Pediatric Cardiologist – Heart Transplant and Advanced Heart Failure Posting Note: Phoenix Children’s – Division of Cardiology actively seeks up to 2 full‑time faculty to join the Advanced Heart Failure – Cardiac Transplant Team at the level of Instructor, Assistant, or Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and Child Health. The program performs an average of 12–15 heart transplants annually and manages heart failure patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, supporting a mechanical circulatory support program with pediatric and adult devices. The successful candidate will join a team of three physicians, five NP transplant coordinators, a VAD coordinator, and interdisciplinary staff in nutrition, pharmacy, social work, and child psychology. Applicants must be M.D. or equivalent, board‑certified or board‑eligible in Pediatric Cardiology by the American Board of Pediatrics, and licensed in Arizona. Candidates must have completed an ACGME‑accredited 3‑year fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology and an additional year of advanced subspecialty training in pediatric advanced heart failure, including management of cardiac transplant patients and mechanical circulatory support. Position Duties Provide inpatient and outpatient patient care, including direct clinical services, subspecialty consultations, diagnostics, therapeutics, and urgent/emergent services. Achieve patient‑ and family‑centered outcomes and support the division’s patient satisfaction, safety, and quality goals. Participate in medical education: supervise trainees and allied health professionals, conduct teaching rounds, lectures, and conferences. Engage in research activities and support the division’s research initiatives. Contribute to programmatic growth, satellite efforts, and support division leadership when requested. Advance professionalism: maintain courteous, respectful interactions with colleagues, staff, and patients; promote a safe, cooperative, and professional environment. Support the Division Chief as liaison to the professional community and general public, and represent the organization in medical, business, and public contexts. Perform other duties as assigned, including after‑hours or night call responsibilities, communication by telephone/computer, and adherence to scheduled work hours. Position Qualifications MD or DO degree. Board certified or board‑eligible in Pediatric Cardiology; Arizona medical license (current or to be obtained prior to start). Completed fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology and advanced heart failure training. Strong ability to communicate by telephone, computer or other devices. Ability to perform after‑hours or night call responsibilities. Ability to work regularly scheduled hours, and to work well under pressure. Able to move freely among facilities and examine patients.
