THE POSITION Take on an important role with the Department of Corrections as an Information Technology Generalist 1 and support the technology that powers SCI-Laurel Highlands. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position supports the information technology systems and network environment within SCI-Laurel Highlands. The work ensures reliable access to software, hardware, servers, and essential applications used throughout the institution. As an Information Technology Generalist 1, you will perform the following duties: User Support: Provide assistance to staff on hardware, software, and system applications System Analysis: Review current methods and design improved applications and processes Network Maintenance: Monitor network systems and resolve hardware and software issues Security Tasks: Manage user accounts, regulate permissions and maintain security measures Technical Training: Guide and train lower-level staff in system methods and procedures Equipment Management: Install, maintain and upgrade servers, workstations and peripherals Work Schedule and Additional Information Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $60,538 (before taxes). Required Experience, Training & Eligibility QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements Three years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services; or One year as an Information Technology Trainee or Information Technology Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Other Requirements Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must meet the PA residency requirement .
