Physical Therapist Assistant

Assist in the performance of physical therapy treatment procedures and related duties under the supervision and direction of a licensed physical therapist.

Responsibilities

Assist in the assessment of physical therapy treatment.

Document patient care and progress to include keeping records and statistics.

Assist in educating patients about their care and treatment.

Assist the Physical Therapist in the clinical instruction of physical therapy assistant students.

Care of environment and equipment, review inventory and the working condition of equipment.

Attending meetings and in-service programs.

Comply with department and regulatory standards and policies.

Recommend changes in procedures as appropriate.

All other duties as requested.

Qualifications

Education:

Associate's Degree from an APTA accredited physical therapist assistant program.

Experience:

May be new graduate but some experience in physical therapy programs helpful and preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

Good interpersonal and customer service skills.

Ability to fully utilize BHMC's electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.

Licenses, Certifications:

New York State Certification as Physical Therapist Assistant and current NYS Registration.

Physical Requirements

Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.

Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds.

Ability to position and partially lift patients is required.
