They need a credible mentor whose personal accomplishments model excellence: someone capable of reading group dynamics, establishing expectations, and guiding students through obstacles, distraction, and internal doubt. Your role is not instructional. AI manages the academic delivery. Your responsibility is to inspire, coach, and apply the same exacting standards you've maintained for yourself. Forty percent of your time is spent in direct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching sessions that identify barriers and define challenging objectives. Another forty percent involves facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for competency, not amusement. The final twenty percent is dedicated to morning sessions that set a tone where average performance is unacceptable. The trajectory here emphasizes mastery, not advancement into management. You begin by mastering Alpha's methodology and establishing trust with students. Within a few months, you become the person they rely on to push them beyond perceived limits. The payoff isn't upward mobility. It's continuity with the same students, year after year, as you guide their growth. What You Will Be Doing Conducting 1-on-1 and small-group coaching using Coachbot analytics and student performance data to identify obstacles, establish challenging targets, and ensure accountability for execution Facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for proficiency by drawing on credible narratives from your own high-achievement background, then evaluating mastery via Alpha's Test2Pass framework Establishing the campus culture each morning through purposeful kickoffs that uphold high-performance standards Monitoring student advancement in real time and modifying coaching approaches based on evidence, not intuition Cultivating trusted mentoring relationships with students and their families by maintaining rigorous standards, consistency, and formal motivation strategies What You Won’t Be Doing Delivering lessons, creating curricula, or evaluating assignments — Alpha's AI-based academic system manages instruction; your focus is motivation Presenting to a full classroom of 30 students (your work centers on intensive coaching with small groups, not large-scale teaching) Supervising other personnel or pursuing administrative advancement (this role prioritizes direct student outcomes, not organizational structure) Attending staff meetings or managing school administration (your hours remain dedicated to students) Reducing standards to meet targets (if a student reaches 99%, your task is to identify what prevented 100%) Student Excellence Coach Key Responsibilities Lead outstanding student motivation, development, and life-skill competency at Alpha's most rigorous campuses. Basic Requirements Bachelor's degree At least one documented instance of exceptional achievement in a highly selective, internationally recognized field (examples: medals in national or international competitions, honors degree from a top-tier university, position at a highly selective firm or fellowship, training at an elite performing arts institution, or founding and growing a successful enterprise) At least 3 years of experience in student coaching, youth mentoring, athletic coaching, or leadership positions where you demonstrably improved others' performance Willing to work on-site at an Alpha campus in Santa Barbara, CA; Santa Monica, CA; San Francisco, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boston, MA; New York City, NY; or Seattle, WA (relocation assistance provided) Legal authorization to work in the United States Nice-to-have Requirements Experience in elite competitive sports (varsity Division I, national team, or professional level) and coaching or mentoring younger athletes Background in high-accountability sectors such as management consulting, investment banking, or military leadership Demonstrated youth development experience through mentoring in non-classroom contexts (community groups, after-school initiatives, athletic camps) Confidence engaging and earning trust with high-expectation families investing in premium private education About Alpha Alpha School is on a mission to reshape education with a bold approach that harnesses AI to accelerate learning and unleash student potential. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $75 USD/hour, which equates to $150,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
