Planning Intern

Planning InternUnder the direction of the Assistant City Planner, the Planning Intern will assist with special projects in the Community Development Department, with the primary focus being on the Citywide Comprehensive Plan update. This is a temporary position, 10-15 hours per week, lasting approximately 4 months.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Assists with planning projects in the Community Development Department.Assisting with the facilitation of public meetings and other engagement eventsDrafting communications and organizing outreach activitiesCollecting, analyzing, and summarizing dataAssist with projects for Plan Commission and other city committeesAdministrative assistance, including but not limited to taking notes during meetings, drafting documents, and compiling engagement data.Attending special outreach activities as required.Performs related duties as required.Minimum Requirements:Education and Experience RequirementsA High School diploma or equivalent (GED, etc.)Undergraduate degree in or enrollment of studies in planning, natural resources, architecture, GIS, urban studies, sustainability, or a related fieldKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMaintains prompt, predictable, and regular physical attendanceMust be able to take direction and work well with others.Must be able to concentrate and perform accurately.Must be able to react to change productivity and handle other tasks as assigned.Physical and Working EnvironmentAbility to work under safe and comfortable office conditions where exposure to environmental factors is minimal and poses little to no risk of injury.Important!
