Job Summary:

The HR Director at WEC will serve as a strategic leader responsible for overseeing all human resources functions. This role ensures alignment of HR strategies with organizational goals, fosters a positive workplace culture, and ensures compliance with labor laws and internal policies. The HR Director will lead initiatives in talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation, and organizational development.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with WEC’s mission and business objectives.
• Advise executive leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, and talent strategy.
• Oversee recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes.
• Implement effective sourcing strategies to attract top talent.
• Lead succession planning and career development initiatives.
• Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
• Resolve employee conflicts and manage disciplinary actions.
• Conduct employee satisfaction surveys and implement engagement strategies.
• Design and manage performance appraisal systems.
• Lead training and development programs to enhance employee skills and growth.
• Administer competitive compensation and benefits programs.
• Conduct market analysis to ensure equitable pay structures.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
• Maintain HR policies and procedures and conduct regular audits.
• Manage workplace safety and workers’ compensation programs.
• Oversee HRIS systems and data management.
• Manage departmental budgets and resource allocation.
• Prepare HR metrics and reports for senior leadership.

• Primarily office-based with occasional travel to other WEC locations or external meetings.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods; frequent walking within the office and to meeting rooms.
• Regular use of hands and fingers to operate computer keyboards, office equipment, and mobile devices.
• Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing, frequent use of phone and video conferencing tools.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds (e.g., office supplies, documents).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and handle sensitive employee issues with discretion and professionalism.

Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (master’s preferred).
• 8–10 years of progressive HR leadership experience.
• SHRM-SCP or PHR certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and organizational development.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic thinking skills.
• Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
