Job Summary The Community Engagement Manager leads the development, implementation, and assessment of community engagement programs, strategic initiatives, and cross-campus collaborations that advance institutional priorities and community impact. This position oversees daily operations of the Community Engagement office, supervises professional and student staff and fosters a collaborative, high-performing team culture. The manager cultivates and maintains strategic community partnerships, evaluates program and partnership effectiveness, and uses assessment data to drive continuous improvement. The role supports institutional efforts related to the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification, faculty development in community-engaged learning, and the expansion of experiential learning opportunities. Additionally, the Community Engagement Manager serves as an institutional representative, coordinates communication and recognition initiatives, and ensures accurate data management and reporting to support strategic decision‑making and organizational effectiveness. Responsibilities The duties include, but are not limited to:

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION:

• Manages the implementation and assessment of community engagement programs and cross campus collaborations, including signature events, recognition initiatives, and strategic projects.
• Ensures program initiatives align with institutional strategy and community impact goals while maintaining operational excellence.
• Supports and coordinates institutional efforts related to the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification, including data collection, documentation, and continuous improvement efforts to sustain readiness between application cycles.

LEADERSHIP AND OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT:

• Provides direct supervision to community engagement coordinator, database specialist, and student workers, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities and institutional goals.
• Establishes performance expectations, supports professional development, and fosters a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
• Partners with the Community Engagement Director to manage daily office operations, workflow, resource allocation, and administrative processes to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
• Monitors team performance and implements strategies to ensure accountability, continuous improvement, and high-quality outcomes.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND STEWARDSHIP:

• Cultivates and sustains strategic partnerships with community organizations.
• Serves as a liaison to external partners, ensuring mutually beneficial collaboration and clear communication.
• Identifies new partnership opportunities that advance institutional priorities and community-defined needs.
• Develops and implements assessment strategies to evaluate program effectiveness and partnership quality, including gathering and analyzing feedback from community partners to incorporate external perspectives.
• Utilizes assessment findings to inform continuous improvement of programs, partnerships, and institutional practices.

COMMUNICATIONS, VISIBILITY, AND INSTITUTIONAL REPRESENTATION:

• Manages implementation of communication strategies that highlight community engagement impact, promote opportunities, and enhance internal and external visibility.
• Coordinates recognition efforts that celebrate contributions of students, faculty, staff, and community partners, reinforcing a culture of engagement.
• Supports the coordination and facilitation of the Community Engagement Leadership Council (CELC), aligning cross-campus efforts and advancing institutional priorities.
• Represents Augusta University in community engagement committees, advisory groups, and regional initiatives to strengthen partnerships and elevate institutional visibility.

COMMUNITY-ENGAGED LEARNING SUPPORT AND FACULTY DEVELOPMENT:

• Supports faculty in the development and implementation of community-engaged learning.
• Provides consultation, resources, and training to advance community-engaged pedagogy.
• Collaborates with academic units to expand course-based partnerships and strengthen student experiential learning opportunities.

DATA MANAGEMENT AND ASSESSMENT:

• Oversee data tracking and reporting processes related to community engagement activities and partnerships.
• Ensures the integrity and maintenance of systems that document participation, outcomes, and institutional reach to support strategic decision‑making and institutional reporting.

OTHER: Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field including (but not limited to) Business, Public Relations, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Marketing Communications or Human Resources with three years prior experience facilitating community-based initiatives, managing and/or coordinating community partnerships, projects and programs, prior project management/event coordination experience, and experience working with and administering relationship/engagement database software. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field highly preferred. Expert level experience in working with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint. Prior community engagement software management experience a plus.
