Recovery Support Specialist - WRS

Recovery Support Specialist is a valuable member of our (WRS) Women's Residential Service team who provides support to clients with Co-Occurring Disorder, based on own experiences. Responsible for engaging and motivating identified population to seek needed services. Explains, guides, supports and assists clients with goals of improved stability and self-sufficiency, independent living, self-advocacy, and development of supportive relationships. The Recovery Specialist will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate and motivator to recovering individuals in order to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. Schedule: 37.5 hours a week Tuesday - Friday (9:00am-5:00pm) Saturday (7:00am-3:00pm) Ability to use personal experience to establish a warm and empathic connection with clients. Assist potential clients through the intake process, referrals, and connection with LCHD services as well as outside services. Provide supportive peer counseling and case management. Provide community intervention, which includes crisis intervention, case finding to identify individuals in need of service, including in-reach and outreach to targeted populations or individuals not admitted to treatment. Educate community institutions or state agencies and social services staff regarding the screening and referral of at-risk individuals to treatment. Assist recovering persons to identify their personal interests, goals, strengths, and weaknesses regarding recovery. Accompany clients to medical appointments, court appointments, DCFS meetings, 12-step meetings, and other activities that are supportive of their recovery. Assist clients in the development of client-centered treatment plans and continuing care plans and in the development and leading of recovery groups. Assist families through the intake, referral, and connection with other agencies. Provides support and advocacy for families receiving services. Travels within Lake County and outside Lake County for trainings and outreach efforts. High school diploma, G.E.D. certificate required. Certification for Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) required. Requires one year of direct and personal experience with the mental health system as a primary consumer of services.
