Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Lead manufacturing supervisors and hourly associates at the Catawba Campus, ensuring safety, quality, cost, delivery, productivity, and morale. Partner with cross-functional teams to meet production goals, improve efficiency, and develop talent.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage production performance, staffing, overtime, and labor costs.
• Execute production plans and support on-time delivery.
• Oversee changeovers, equipment upgrades, maintenance, experiments, and new product launches.
• Improve bottleneck processes, OEE, setup times, and downtime with Lean teams.
• Supervise front-line teams and promote accountability, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Develop, train, and retain manufacturing employees.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required; technical or business degree preferred.
• At least 5 years of manufacturing experience with leadership progression.
• Experience managing salaried and hourly employees.
• Strong coaching, conflict resolution, communication, decision-making, and organizational skills.
• Results-oriented and effective under pressure.
• Experience using manufacturing performance metrics.

Preferred Skills

• MBA or advanced technical degree.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean manufacturing experience.
• Cross-functional improvement or cost-reduction experience.
• Experience with new product development, manufacturing launches, and talent strategies.

The range for this position is $106,400.00 - $146,300.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
