Summary: The Architectural Designer is a member of the design studio to provide architectural services to Sevan's clients nationwide. A design professional, accountable for producing accurate design and construction documents for retail and/or restaurant (commercial) multi-site clients and supporting other team members in achieving team goals.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Prepares complete, accurate and code compliant construction documents.Performs assignments under direction and supervisory approval of others for all projects.Provides technical and creative design solutions that align with program intent.Applies client's program requirements and design criteria to existing buildings and structures.Responsible for determining the appropriate building components and their design application.Responsible for maintaining project schedules, deadlines and commitments for small and medium-scope assignments of average difficulty.Notifies supervisor of changes in project scop and advises if a change order proposal is needed.Coordinates work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives.Possesses a working knowledge of building codes and ADA requirements.Conducts project due diligence with municipalities to determine local zoning and building code requirements.Accountable for resolving plan review comments from code officials.Assists the project liaison to code officials, outside consultants, suppliers, and contractors regarding questions to the construction documents.Adheres to CAD standards and follows assigned drafting protocol across all projects.Receives feedback and direction from others.Works with supervisor and peers to pursue professional development.Participates in NCARB's Architectural Experience Program (AXP) Program.Accountable for timely completion of assigned projects.Self-starter with the ability to work independently on simple to moderately difficult projects.Capable to prioritize and work on multiple projects at the same time.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Bachelors Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent3+ years related professional experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Comprehensive knowledge of architectural principles, practices, and advanced techniques.Expertise in drawings, specifications, and building materials.Capable of completing moderately difficult architectural assignments with minimal supervision.Ability to execute and coordinate multiple projects at a time.Experience in multi-site projects preferred.Successful employees work on multiple projects of various scope and duration, can quickly change direction to meet aggressive deadlines, and work with limited supervision.Knowledge of AutoCAD (required), Revit (preferred), Illustrator, Photoshop, SketchUp, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheet. 3ds Max is a plus. This role collaborates with project teams to produce technical drawings, coordinate project requirements, and assist in delivering high-quality design solutions from concept through construction.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed construction documents that meet applicable building codes and project requirements.Support architectural projects under the guidance of senior design professionals and project leaders.Develop practical and creative design solutions that align with project objectives and client standards.Evaluate existing facilities and incorporate program requirements into project designs.Select and apply appropriate building systems, materials, and construction components.Assist with project scheduling and help maintain established deadlines for assigned work.Communicate potential scope changes and project impacts to project leadership.Coordinate with consultants, contractors, vendors, and regulatory agencies throughout project development.Research and apply relevant building codes, accessibility requirements, and local regulations.Conduct due diligence activities, including zoning and permitting research.Address plan review comments and assist with permit approval processes.Support communication with municipalities, consultants, and construction teams regarding project documentation.Produce drawings in accordance with established drafting and CAD standards.Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into project deliverables.Manage multiple assignments while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Engineering, or a related field.Minimum of three years of professional experience in architectural design, drafting, or construction documentation.Proficiency with AutoCAD is required; experience with Revit is preferred.Strong understanding of architectural design principles, building systems, construction methods, and industry standards.Experience preparing technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.Ability to work independently on routine to moderately complex projects.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.Experience supporting commercial, retail, restaurant, hospitality, or similar multi-site projects is preferred.Familiarity with building codes, accessibility standards, zoning requirements, and permitting processes.Working knowledge of design and visualization software such as SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, and related programs is beneficial.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or genetic information.
