Unit Manager

Job Summary The Unit Manger is responsible for overseeing and coordinating resident care services within the skilled nursing facility. This role ensures high-quality, person-centered care by managing resident care plans, supervising direct care staff, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to enhance the well-being of residents. The Residential Care Manager will uphold compliance with state and federal regulations, support staff development, and promote a culture of compassion and excellence in resident care. Key Responsibilities Unit Manager
- Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized resident care plans.
- Conduct regular assessments to ensure residents' needs are met in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with nursing, therapy, and social services teams to provide comprehensive care.
- Act as a liaison between residents, families, and healthcare providers to ensure effective communication and continuity of care.
- Supervise and support direct care staff, ensuring adherence to facility policies and best practices.
- Provide coaching, training, and performance evaluations to enhance staff competency and engagement.
- Assist in staff scheduling and coverage to maintain adequate staffing levels for quality care delivery.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing skilled nursing facilities.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Monitor and address resident care concerns, incidents, and grievances promptly.
- Foster a resident-centered approach to care, emphasizing dignity, choice, and quality of life.
- Educate families on care plans, facility policies, and available resources.
- Promote resident participation in activities and wellness programs.
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (RN or LPN), Social Work, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in long-term care, assisted living, or skilled nursing, with prior leadership experience preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Active RN or LPN license (if applicable) in the state of employment preferred; CPR certification required.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing skilled nursing facilities.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and care planning systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with residents who have varying levels of physical and cognitive needs.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- May require evening, weekend, or holiday shifts based on facility needs.
