Adjunct Instructor for Landscape DesignAdjunct instructor needed to teach Landscape Design using Cecil College Master Syllabus. The course meets on campus on Wednesday from 6:00 pm-8:50 pm. The semester runs 8/31/26 through 12/18/26. The term "Adjunct" has a very specific meaning. An Adjunct Faculty is a contract employee hired to teach specific course(s) during an academic term on a part-time basis. Details: For a fiscal year (July 1 through June 30), the Adjunct Faculty Member shall serve as a part-time employee of the College. Adjunct Faculty may teach no more than 26 credit hours per fiscal year. Adjunct faculty will receive a master adjunct contract, as well as course specific contract. Each course specific contract shall list: 1) the Adjunct Faculty members name, employee number, address and phone number; and 2) the course number, course title, number of credit hours, start date, end date, account code and the payment amount.Essential Job FunctionsAs an instructor, the Adjunct Faculty member's duties are to:Convey the course material so that students can attain the instructional objectives of the course.If requested to do so by the Department Chairperson, complete a course assessment for courses taught under the terms of this contract.Ensure that all course material is available to students the first day of class via Cecil College's Learning Management system.Meet program specific requirements for employment and supervision of students in any externship or capstone course.Hold classes for the full amount of time specified. Notify the Academic Affairs Office if there is an urgent reason to miss class.Be reasonably accessible to students via email or in person, return students' assignments in a timely manner.Hold office hours before or after class, a minimum of 30 minutes per week. Advising modality should match teaching modalityFacilitate quality learning experiences for students.Develop and implement classroom lesson plans and learning activities, including but not limited to; lectures, videos, demonstrations, and role-play.Teach specific hours or contact hours per week as assigned.Assist with student remediation.Use the College's Academic Monitoring and Learning Management System to document attendance and grades per Cecil College procedures. Submit grades and all other end of the semester documentation in a timely manner.Use the College email account assigned to the member shall be used for College communications and shall check that account on a daily basis.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements to Perform WorkMaster's degree in related discipline.Prior teaching experience in college/university setting in the related field preferred.Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving skills.Current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology (e.g., word processing, e-mail, database) or proven ability to learn these skills.Able to work with students with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peersThe Fiscal Year 2027 Credit Adjunct Scale is as follows: 2 semesters of less at Cecil ($840 a credit hour for individuals with less than a Masters+60 or $865 a credit hour for individuals Masters+60 or a Earned Doctorate); More than 2 semesters at Cecil ($865 a credit hour for individuals with less than a Masters+60 or $890 a credit hour for individuals Masters+60 or a Earned Doctorate).Additional InformationPhysical Demands: This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met. Work Environment: Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations and traffic signals when driving.
