Production Planner

Manufacturing Production PlannerThe Manufacturing Production Planner is responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations in the planning and scheduling area, including the creation of work packages, instructions, material management, and ensuring production goals are met in an efficient and timely manner. This role supports the coordination of workflow and ensures adherence to safety, quality, and budgetary standards. The planner will work closely with other teams to address any production-related challenges, such as material shortages or disruptions in workflow, and help ensure that all processes are followed correctly.ResponsibilitiesAssist with the creation of work packages, instructions, and material management to meet quality standards and align with production schedules.Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper material availability and prevent shortages or overstock.Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to safety regulations, company standards, and customer requirements.Address issues related to material shortages or disruptions in workflow to help maintain production timelines.Assist in coordinating with inventory and purchasing teams to ensure timely availability of materials.Support in tracking and reporting on the status of work in progress, material availability, and any potential production issues.Maintain a safe working environment and ensure safety procedures are followed.Assist with other planning-related tasks as needed.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED (Required); bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Preferred)Must have blueprint reading experience3+ years of relevant manufacturing/planning experienceStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsUnderstanding of production processes, quality control, and inventory managementStrong math and analytical skillsTechnical proficiency in material requirements planning and scheduling softwareVerbal and written communication skillsBonus if you have completed a shipyard apprenticeshipJob Type: Full-timeBenefits:401(k)Dental insuranceHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftM-F 6AM-2:30PMExperience:Manufacturing Planning: 1 year (Required)Management: 1 year (Preferred)Ability to Commute:Newport News, VA 23607 (Required)Ability to Relocate:Newport News, VA 23607: Relocate before starting work (Required)6:00AM-2:30PM M-F
