Outside Sales Representative

Technical Sales Representative Location: Prairie Village KS (Field-based, with regional travel) Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: President About the Role We're looking for a Sales Representative who can bridge the gap between technical design and customer relationships. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the road, building relationships face-to-face, and also has the technical chops to speak fluently with engineers, maintenance, or operations teams about product specifications, system design, and application fit. You'll own the full sales cycle — from prospecting through technical scoping to close — for the territory of Nebraska. Candidates must be local to the Kansas City metro area. What You'll Do Identify, prospect, and develop new business within an assigned territory through in-person visits, site walks, and on-location meetings Partner with customers' engineering, procurement, or facilities teams to understand technical requirements and translate them into product or system recommendations Prepare technical proposals, specifications, and design layouts (e.g., CAD drawings, system schematics, layouts, or equivalent depending on industry) Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations on-site Collaborate with internal engineering/design teams to customize solutions for complex or non-standard applications Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, or technical drawings Manage quoting, pricing, and proposal development for technical solutions Maintain and grow existing accounts while consistently building new pipeline Track opportunities, activity, and forecasts in CRM Attend customer site visits, trade shows, and industry events as needed Provide field feedback to product/engineering teams on design trends and customer needs What You Bring 1-3 years of outside sales experience, ideally in a technical, industrial, or engineered-products environment Ability to read technical drawings, specs, or CAD files (or strong aptitude to learn quickly) Bachelor's degree (Engineering, Technical Design, or related field preferred but not required) Strong consultative sales skills; comfortable managing a long, technical sales cycle Excellent communication skills — able to translate complex technical concepts for both engineers and non-technical buyers Proficiency with CRM tools and basic design/quoting software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or industry-specific design tools a plus) Self-motivated with strong time management; comfortable with regional travel (30-50%) Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Nice to Have Prior experience in industrial equipment design and sales Familiarity with NFPA standards Existing book of business or industry network in the territory What We Offer Base salary + uncapped commission structure Business Development Representative to support you Established Sales Territory with regular customers Vehicle Reimbursement Expense account for travel and client entertainment Ongoing technical and sales training #J-18808-Ljbffr Industrial Air Technology
