Purchasing Manager

Purchasing Manager (2603015) – D.R. Horton, Inc. Responsible for leading the Purchasing Department, overseeing sourcing for equipment, goods, and services, and executing strategic procurement across multiple categories to secure optimal contracts and profitable suppliers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies. Manage bid processes for architectural plans to subcontractors and vendors. Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness. Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms. Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation. Forecast price and market trends to identify changes in buyer‑supplier power. Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking. Assess, manage, and mitigate risks. Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers. Determine quantity and timing of deliveries. Monitor and forecast upcoming demand levels. Manage costs of existing projects. Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase goodwill and profit of the company. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly manage two or more employees in the Purchasing Department, entailing interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Qualifications Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree from four‑year college or university, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business Administration. Five to eight years of related experience and/or training as Purchasing Manager, Agent or Officer. Proven experience with sourcing, negotiation, and vendor management. Ability to gather and analyze data. Strong leadership skills and networking capabilities. Ability to effectively present information, respond, and draw valid conclusions. Displays regular interest in market dynamics along with business sense. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form or via DRH applications. Proficiency with MS Office and email.
