Job Details Employment Status: Part time Shift: Day (United States of America) Facility: 215 Gilbert St - Blacksburg Requisition Number: R160592 How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare Facilitate and assist in the completion of the physician’s medical records and patient documentation in a professional and timely manner. Accompany a physician through patient care duties during each shift, updating the medical record in real time. Transcribe details of the physical exam, lab tests, imaging results, medications, and other ordering information. Record physician consultations with family members or other physicians regarding a patient’s case. Remind the physician of the progress of lab, X‑ray or other evaluations, and transcribe results into the chart so the physician can make sound treatment decisions. Document procedures performed by the physician or any other healthcare professional, including nurses and physician assistants. Assisting with pages to consultants, when required. Master the use of the EPIC EMR and the PACS imaging system. Perform additional duties as required by site‑specific or department‑specific requirements. Assist with PPE procedures (mask drop‑off and retrieval, bleach changes, PPE replacement, employee exposure logs) when working with PPEs. When working as a documentation specialist, implement appropriate and timely referrals to physician advisors. Collect data showing activities performed and improvements made. Perform pre‑billing reviews of clinical documentation. Maintain awareness of the business of medicine and changes in coding and billing, including Value Based Medicine, Readmission Reduction Programs, and updates from CMS that may impact billing, documentation, and coding. Qualifications Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent required. Experience: 1–2 years of experience working with the public in a healthcare setting. Skills: Excellent PC and typing skills, interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Knowledge: Familiar with medical terminology. Benefits Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits.
