Critical Facility Technician

Critical Facilities TechnicianCritical Facilities Technicians serve in a cross-functional role focused on supporting the day-to-day operation and maintenance of critical infrastructure systems within a mission-critical data center. This technician works under direct supervision of client facilities engineering staff to assist with inspections, documentation, troubleshooting support, basic PM inspections, and compliance tasks across electrical, mechanical, and building systems. The technician also conducts basic facility maintenance tasks involving but not limited to painting, drywall work, cleaning, changing light bulbs, and responding to plumbing issues.ObjectivesProvide hands-on support to engineers in maintaining critical infrastructureDevelop foundational knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and building systemsSupport preventive and corrective maintenance efforts across disciplines with an emphasis on HVACLearn and follow all safety, compliance, and operational proceduresResponsibilitiesOperational SupportAssist senior staff in monitoring and recording data from Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Monitoring Systems (EMS), and other dashboardsPerform data center rounds daily to visually inspect equipment and environmentsReport abnormalities to Level 2 or 3 personnel promptlyAid in preparing tools, supplies, and materials for scheduled workAssist other site teams with projects including building server rack frames/tables/carts, inventory tracking, project scope walks, cabling, and organizing materialsCritical Infrastructure MaintenanceSupport routine maintenance tasks under direct supervision (e.g., filter replacement, visual inspections, cleaning of equipment)Escort vendors and monitor work as directed by senior techniciansHelp track and log maintenance activities using CMMS or internal systemsEmergency ResponseRespond to alerts and alarms by notifying appropriate personnelGather basic information and provide assistance during troubleshooting or remediationParticipate in after-action documentation and learning sessionsSystem Monitoring & DocumentationComplete inspection checklists, shift handover notes, and equipment logsAssist in updating as-built documents, asset inventory, and maintenance recordsHelp prepare materials for compliance audits and internal reviewsClose out assigned projects and follow up with facilities team with completion detailsCompliance & SafetyFollow all safety policies and wear assigned PPEParticipate in mandatory safety drills and trainingIdentify and report unsafe conditions or policy violations to senior staffCollaborationSupport electrical, mechanical, and IT infrastructure teams as neededAttend team meetings and actively participate in training programsShadow experienced technicians and seek mentorship to build technical skillsDeliverablesCompleted walkthrough checklists and shift logsAccurate and timely equipment readingsUpdated maintenance tracking and asset dataTools & EquipmentBasic hand tools and toolkitsPortable meters (e.g., temperature, humidity, voltage – with supervision)BMS/EMS terminals for observation and basic entryPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE)Radios and mobile devices for communicationQualificationsOSHA 10 (General Industry)CPR/First AidEPA 608 (if assisting HVAC tasks) – optionalHigh school diploma or equivalent required0–2 years of experience in facility support, maintenance, or technical environmentsInternships or apprenticeships in related fields are a plusPerformance MetricsCompletion and accuracy of assigned tasksResponsiveness and reliability during shift assignmentsSupervisor and peer feedbackParticipation in training and continuous learningAdherence to safety and compliance proceduresIf you are a motivated and results-driven individual with a passion for data center services and a knack for building strong client relationships, we want to hear from you.
