What You Will Do

The Cybersecurity Director – Energy Providers will be responsible for client management, solution implementation and delivering project results. The role connects Guidehouse Technology consulting solutions to solve client problems. The director facilitates sales processes, establishes and leads project workstreams, interacts with clients and Guidehouse Technology experts to ensure engagement success, supports day‑to‑day operational meetings, and fosters client and firm success across North America. This includes business development opportunities, communication of effective solutions and presentations, coaching of consultants, and ensuring quality deliverables. The position maximizes customer success by integrating technology strategy, sales and project delivery in the Electric/Power Utilities industry.

Responsibilities

• Support or lead sales and growth targets within the Risk, Compliance, Security Team.
• Support or establish and facilitate business development meetings and foster industry relationships for short, medium and long‑term success throughout North America.
• Lead workstreams that enable the assessment, development, and enhancement of business strategies, operating plans, processes, organizational structures, and infrastructure for North American clients.
• Conduct NERC audits, improve NERC compliance and cybersecurity processes, analyze internal controls, and implement process improvements.
• Apply technical competencies on the ground with clients and potential clients.
• Analyze NERC and related strategy implementation and compliance efforts.
• Communicate solutions and new strategies to clients through meetings, reports, and presentations.
• Provide detailed fact‑finding, research, and analysis to support delivery.
• Ensure quality of deliverables to meet client expectations.

What You Will Need

• US Permanent Resident or US Citizen (due to nature of client engagements).
• Bachelor’s degree in a business, cybersecurity, security management, homeland security, information security, or related discipline AND ten (10+) years of post‑graduation work experience within the electric utility industry, including experience as a regulator. OR Master’s degree in a related discipline AND eight (8+) years of post‑graduation experience within the electric utility industry, including experience as a regulator.
• Work experience with a focus on North American NERC Reliability Standards (USA and/or Canada) supporting regulatory frameworks and processes around NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and Regional Entities.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the NERC Reliability Standards.
• Successful experience leading business development initiatives (writing proposals, identifying opportunities to expand scope, and providing additional services).
• Strong utilities industry relationships.
• Strong project management skills.
• Strong communications skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong critical analysis and problem‑solving skills.
• Highly developed organizational and management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple time‑sensitive priorities without diminished effectiveness.
• Ability to travel, including potential international travel as needed.
• Ability to work onsite in a Guidehouse office or client office location.
• Currently reside in the contiguous United States.

What Would Be Nice To Have

• Preference for candidates within reasonable driving distance of the Guidehouse office or client office location.
• One or more of the following certifications applied in the utilities industry: CPP , CISSP or PSP .
• Experience with technology strategy, digital transformation, or enterprise IT consulting in utilities or energy companies.
• Successfully met or exceeded business development targets in the range of $1.5M–$5M USD.
• Additional working years of experience in a reliability compliance field for an electric utility, regional entities, ISO, PUC, or similarly structured or related regulatory body.
• Specific experience related to any of the following: Bulk Electric System (BES) and power systems, electrical reliability, NERC/FERC enforcement or auditing, operations and planning (O&P).

Salary

The annual salary range for this position is $206,000.00–$343,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
