Details Step Down/PCU unit within a teaching hospital setting Adult and geriatric patient population Common cases include burns, plastic/reconstructive surgery, urology, GYN, ENT, and oral/maxillofacial surgeries Special procedures include burn dressings, flap checks, and leech therapy Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 19:00-07:30, 36 hours per week Every other or every third weekend required Floating required within OSU system Any charting system experience accepted Requirements Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration Current BLS and ACLS certification required Minimum 1 year of recent experience required Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program Teaching hospital experience preferred Skills include IV therapy, arterial line management, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and PICC line management Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and telemetry (unit and remote) required Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE required Experience with insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips required Experience with non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, and nasal cannula use required Experience with surgical drains and substance withdrawal care required 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a charge RN or higher; coworker references not accepted Additional Information Provide direct patient care within a step down/PCU setting supporting a plastics and reconstructive surgery population Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing their contract due to strict compliance timelines First-time travelers are welcome to apply Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment only after being away from the facility for 6 months or more Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are not eligible for travel assignments Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less These details are based on information provided by the facility and may include inaccuracies or be subject to updates.
