Job Description
Exciting Opportunity for Experienced ICU Nurses!

Job Description:


- Shift: 12H Nights (7p-7a); Every Other Weekend Required
- Parking: Daily parking available at $15+/day; multiple options for garages and lots ranging from $95 - $120 with monthly pass.


- Unit Overview:
- Busy and large Level 1 Trauma Center
- Patient Ratios: 1:2, occasionally 1:1
- 18 beds in total


- Candidate Requirements:
- Minimum 3+ years of experience
- Previous travel experience and worked in a high-traffic hospital
- Open to floating between units
- Flexible scheduling; no self-scheduling


- Required Certifications:
- ACLS
- BLS

- Common Diagnoses/Patient Types:
- Heart failure
- STEMI
- Pulmonary emboli
- Arrhythmias
- MICU overflow

- Essential Skills:
- Experience with ventilators, managing pressors, hemodynamics (PAC, CVP, arterial lines)
- Familiarity with IABP, Impella, and CRRT
- Ability to paralyze and sedate patients - BIS & TOF
- Proficient in titrating drips (e.g., Epinephrine, norepinephrine, vasopressin, dobutamine, milrinone, amiodarone, cardene)

- Unit Support Structure:
- Charge Nurse on each shift; may take an assignment
- Minimal patient care assistant support (1 for all 18 beds when available)


- Medical Staff Availability:
- Hospitalist & Intensivist in-house 24/7
- Cardiology fellow available 24/7 for Cardiology patients

- Respiratory Therapy:
- RT in ICU 24/7
- RN must be capable of troubleshooting ventilators and intervening in emergencies (e.g., self-extubation, trach dislodgement)

- Monitoring and Equipment:
- RNs interpret their own telemetry strips; HP monitors in use
- Positioned for emergency troubleshooting


- Scheduling Details:
- Self-scheduling with attempts to accommodate requests
- Current expectations include working every other weekend and possibly covering holidays

- Dress Code:
- Teal tops and bottoms; solid or coordinated non-terry cloth jackets

- Orientation:
- Two 12-hour shifts of unit/department-specific orientation

- Contract Details:
- Duration: 91 weeks
- Guaranteed hours: 48 hours per week
