JOB OVERVIEW Job Id: Y-MD- Profession: Physician Specialty: Pediatric Hospitalist Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Potsdam, NY Service Setting: Hospital Inpatient Coverage Type: Clinical + Call Coverage Period: Jan 04, 2027 - Apr 05, 2027 On-Call Shift Schedule: 24-hour call shifts, weekdays and weekends Call Type: Beeper (must be able to return within 20 minutes) Call Response Time: 20 minutes PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Neonates (Newborn Nursery, High-risk deliveries), Pediatrics (Inpatient unit) Patient Volume/Census: 4-10 newborns, 0-3 inpatient pediatrics per day Case Mix: Newborn nursery, high-risk deliveries, ER consults, pediatric inpatient FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: Variable, typically 4-10 newborn beds, 0-3 inpatient pediatric beds EMR System: Epic Specialty Backup Available: 24/7 anesthesia coverage (CRNA or MD), Obstetrics (MD/midwife) Reason for Coverage: Supplemental Coverage / Vacancy PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes REQUIRED PROCEDURES Newborn Nursery care and management High-risk delivery attendance and resuscitation Emergency Room consults for pediatric patients Pediatric inpatient unit management Resuscitation and stabilization of critically ill newborns pending NICU transport JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active NY State License Board: Board Certified Pediatrician Certifications: NRP, PALS, BLS (AHA or RQI) Other Qualifications: Epic Experience Required DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide coverage for Newborn Nursery, including attending high-risk deliveries and stabilizing newborns. Conduct emergency room consults for pediatric patients. Manage the Pediatric inpatient unit, overseeing patient care and treatment plans. Resuscitate and stabilize critically ill newborns pending transport to a higher-level NICU. Perform 24-hour call shifts, remaining accessible and able to return to the hospital within 20 minutes.
