You will work collaboratively with a team of six double-boarded Trauma Surgeons, a nocturnist PA, skilled nurses, and other healthcare professionals who deliver outstanding care to our trauma patients.About Methodist Medical Group:MMG in Dallas, Texas, is a leading, multi-specialty physician organization affiliated with Methodist Health System. Currently an American College of Surgeons Level 3 trauma center, the facility is on track to achieve Level 2 verification.Meet our Trauma Surgeons:Our highly trained and prestigious Trauma Surgeons have well over 130 years of total combined experience, to include academic and community bases practices.Mark Shapiro, MDSherry Sixta, MDThomas Goaley, MDRichard Miller, MDJames Juhng, MDJay Johannigman, MDKey features include:294 beds40 emergency department rooms29 Critical Care beds (ICUs)10 operating rooms (ORs)Over 75 specialty servicesWith over fifteen years of dedicated service to the community, Methodist Mansfield has earned local and national honors, Magnet designation, top-tier safety scores, and ranks in the top five percent nationwide for patient satisfaction and employee engagement.ResponsibilitiesTriage and run Level 2 trauma activations, manage acute resuscitationsAssist with Level I trauma activationsAbility to perform procedures such as:EFAST examsCentral and Arterial line insertionIntubation proceduresBronchoscopic proceduresChest tube placementClosure of lacerationsAssist in Trauma and Acute Care Surgery operative proceduresRound on a diverse patient population in the ICU, critical care, and trauma floorsCollaborate closely with the Trauma Medical Director and the trauma teamContribute to the delivery of high-quality trauma care overnightManage patients in the Emergency Department, ICU, intermediate care, and on the floorPerform comprehensive and interval history and physical examsOrder, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic studiesDocument findings and treatment plans in the EMREducate patients regarding diagnoses and treatment plansPrescribe or recommend therapeutic procedures and medicationsRefer patients to physicians or specialized health resources as neededAssume additional duties as needed within scope of licensureQualificationsSuccessful completion of a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner master’s degree program (NPs must be AGACNP or ACNP certified)Active license or eligibility to practice in the State of TexasCertifications (Preferred):ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) – familiarity or certification preferredBLS (Basic Life Support)FCCS (Fundamental Critical Care Support) – optional but beneficialClinical and procedural experience as an APP (PA/NP) in Trauma, Surgical, ED, or Critical Care settings preferredStrong surgical and critical care knowledge baseExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to remain calm and communicate effectively in high-pressure situationsProficiency in EMR documentation and clinical decision-makingWork EnvironmentFull-time nocturnist positionAtmospherics include the rewarding nature of trauma, quickly evolving critical care, collaboration, communication, and management overnight with the Attending surgeonCompany Mission and CultureMethodist Mansfield Medical Center is committed to delivering exceptional trauma care through a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
