Lab DirectorClinical Laboratory Manager

A hospital-based healthcare organization in Northern West Virginia is seeking an experienced Laboratory Director to provide strategic, operational, and technical leadership for its clinical laboratory. This is a full-time, permanent direct-hire opportunity offering a salary of $104,582.40 to $156,852.80 annually, with a sign-on bonus available. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical laboratory background combined with demonstrated experience leading staff, managing laboratory operations, maintaining regulatory compliance, and driving quality and performance initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and operational oversight for clinical laboratory services.
• Oversee laboratory quality, productivity, staffing, workflow, and regulatory compliance.
• Establish and maintain procedures for specimen processing, testing, quality control, and result reporting.
• Ensure laboratory equipment and instrumentation meet established quality and performance standards.
• Monitor departmental workload and make appropriate staffing and operational adjustments.
• Oversee quality assurance, proficiency testing, corrective actions, and regulatory readiness.
• Manage implementation of new testing methodologies, instrumentation, procedures, and laboratory programs.
• Oversee employee orientation, training, competency assessments, continuing education, and performance management.
• Support laboratory information systems and identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Operate the department within established budgetary guidelines.
• Collaborate with pathologists, hospital leadership, clinical departments, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain compliance with applicable accreditation, safety, infection-control, and licensing requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field
• Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist certification through ASCP or AMT
• 5 years of clinical laboratory experience
• 3 years of supervisory or laboratory management experience
• Current state license where required
• Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory operations and management principles
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualification

• Master’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Management or a related field

Compensation

• $104,582.40 to $156,852.80 annually
