THE OPPORTUNITY

The Assistant Service Manager is a member of the dealership leadership team who assists the Service Manager with the day‑to‑day running of an efficient and profitable service department. In this role you will plan, organize, lead, and control the flow of service work, ensuring high‑quality standards and the highest level of customer satisfaction. You will interface directly with customers and serve as the front line for their service experience. Your Responsibilities Work with the Service Manager to forecast goals and objectives for the department and strive to meet them. Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business. Monitor and control departmental performance using reports, tracking systems, and surveys. Ensure that technicians’ time is consistently sold to service customers. Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of an annual operating budget for the service department. Maintain open communication and strong relationships with other departments—including Parts, Body Shop, Sales, Administration, and Credit—to promote teamwork and harmony. Maintain high‑quality service repairs, minimize comebacks, conduct periodic spot checks, and address customer issues before vehicles leave the shop. Implement and maintain an effective dispatch system. Schedule shop work to maximize productivity in accordance with dealership policy and the technician skill level required. Perform service advisor duties such as scheduling appointments, greeting customers, writing repair orders, providing accurate estimates, and communicating throughout the service engagement. Open and close repair orders. Follow up 24 hours with all customers to confirm satisfaction and handle any issues promptly. Ensure the safety of all employees. Supervisory Responsibilities Assist with supervising the Service Advisors and Truck Technicians. Help with hiring, training, motivating, and monitoring the performance of all service department staff. What We Look For High school diploma or GED (essential). Post‑secondary diploma or trade certification in a related field (preferred). Heavy‑duty truck technical knowledge. Three years of related experience and/or training including supervisory or lead experience. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports. Strong leadership and excellent customer relations skills. Strong business ethics with a professional approach. Ability to function well in a large‑volume, fast‑paced environment. Valid driver’s license. Ability to lift up to 25 kg (50 lbs) occasionally.

SALARY

The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $105,000 annually plus bonus opportunity.
