Job Title Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) Job Description Cape Fox Expeditionary is seeking experienced construction professionals to serve in field supervision roles, including a Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO). on Federal and DoD construction projects including ACOE, NAVFAC, Air Force, NASA and CBP This position is responsible for the day-to-day management, supervision, safety, and quality control of assigned construction projects and reports directly to the Project Manager. Projects are primarily performed at U.S. military and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) installations along the Gulf Coast. Project scopes may include: Building renovations and repairs New construction Pre-construction services IT and physical security upgrades Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work Demolition Civil and utility construction (electrical systems, underground potable water, stormwater, and sewer infrastructure, including associated earthwork) Field Supervision & Management: Plan, schedule, organize, direct, and control construction projects from start to finish in accordance with contract requirements, specifications, schedule, and budget. Serve as the primary on-site point of contact with the Government until project acceptance. Be physically present on-site whenever construction activities are underway. Direct and coordinate subcontractors and vendors to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant performance. Prepare and maintain 4-week look-ahead schedules. Analyze project schedules to optimize sequencing, support concurrent activities, and implement early completion strategies. Coordinate, procure and execute mobilization activities. Conduct weekly progress meetings with Government representatives and subcontractors. Ability to effectively lead a crew on schedule while monitoring quality of work at hand and safety compliance. The selected candidate will serve as the primary on-site liaison with Government representatives and will oversee subcontractors and vendors to ensure compliance with contract documents, safety standards, quality requirements, and project schedules and budgets. Safety Management (SSHO): Implement and enforce company and contract-specific safety programs in compliance with OSHA and EM 385-1-1 (March 2024 edition). Conduct daily safety inspections. Review and submit subcontractor Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and safety plans. Maintain safety deficiency logs and ensure timely corrective actions. Conduct employee orientations and regular safety meetings. Enforce all client and company safety policies and procedures. Ensure proper use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Identify construction hazards and implement appropriate elimination, mitigation, or control measures. General, Administrative & Compliance Duties: Prepare and submit detailed daily reports. Manage subcontractor badging and base access processes. Maintain accurate project documentation in Procore, Kahua, RMS, ECMS, SharePoint, and other required platforms. Ensure compliance with all company policies, audits, and documentation requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free job site. Provide professional, courteous communication with Government officials, subcontractors, coworkers, and the public. Participate in pre-construction process, i.e. review scopes and assist in buy-out of subcontractors, develop and submit site specific and safety preconstruction plans, and existing conditions site investigations. Perform pre-bid site walks and provide feedback to the estimating team. Photo Documentation This is a full-time, field-based position supporting U.S. Government contracts at military and CBP installations. The majority of work will be performed on active construction sites. Travel may be required depending on project assignments and home location. Work may involve exposure to weather extremes, uneven terrain, noise, dust, and other construction-related conditions. Extended hours, night work, weekend work, and holiday work may be required to meet project deadlines or contract requirements. Employees must consistently maintain a high level of professionalism, flexibility, initiative, and mental alertness. The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at: $95,000.00 - $130,000.00 The above salary range represents the company’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Travel Requirements 25 - 50% Job Requirements Required Education and Certifications Minimum of 8 years of experience supervising/managing construction projects in various capacities of Superintendent, Quality Control Manager and Site Safety. Minimum 5 years of supervising/managing federal construction project experience. Be 30-Hour OSHA certified and carry the OSHA 30 card. Knowledgeable with the provisions of EM 385-1-1 "Corps of Engineers Safety and Occupational Health Requirements Manual, dated March 2024. First Aid/CPR trained Certified USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors Competent persons training in Fall protection, confined space and excavation (Desired). Qualifications and Technical skills Proven track record of maintaining project schedules and budgets Proven skills to identify onsite construction hazards and recommend/implement elimination, mitigation or controls. Proven knowledge of construction equipment, methods, and processes and how to incorporate best safe practices in our daily activities. Ability to work under deadline pressure, handle stress and deliver professional results. Long hours and weekends may be required to meet deliverables. Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate with others at all levels of the organization. Ability to travel to company work sites, as needed. Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Must have authorization to work in the United States Must be able to pass a background check to work on Government facilities Proficient in applications such as Word, Excell, PDF editing in Blue Beam or Adobe Proficient in project management tools such as Procore, Kahua Desired. Proficient in Government management tools such as RMS, ECMS, Sharepoint Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb ladders, and work for extended periods. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods. Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions. Ability to traverse uneven terrain and active construction sites. Must wear required PPE at all times. Must maintain continuous mental alertness and situational awareness.
