IDEAL BACKGROUND
COMPUTER SCIENCE, SOFTWARE ENGINEERING, FULL-STACK DEVELOPMENT, OR WEB DEVELOPMENT GRADUATES — ESPECIALLY OPT/STEM OPT STUDENTS
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop and maintain full-stack web applications for CWPC's Community Wildfire Resilience Scorecard and digital platforms
- Build responsive user interfaces using React.js and modern frontend technologies
- Design and develop scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Node.js and Express.js
- Create and optimize MongoDB databases, schemas, and data models for wildfire resilience applications
- Collaborate with UI/UX designers, Solution Architects, Data Scientists, and cross-functional volunteer teams to deliver new features
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code while participating in code reviews and agile development practices
- Contribute to CWPC's open-source technology initiatives that support climate resilience and public safety
WHAT YOU BRING
- Experience with the MERN Stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) through academic, personal, internship, or professional projects
- Strong understanding of JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web development
- Experience building REST APIs and integrating third-party APIs
- Familiarity with Git/GitHub and collaborative software development workflows
- Ability to work independently in an asynchronous, distributed global volunteer environment
- Passion for building technology that creates meaningful social and environmental impact
BONUS IF YOU HAVE
- Experience with TypeScript, Next.js, Redux, or React Query
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Docker, or CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with authentication (JWT, OAuth), testing frameworks, or performance optimization
- Prior contributions to open-source, nonprofit, or mission-driven technology projects
