IDEAL BACKGROUND

COMPUTER SCIENCE, SOFTWARE ENGINEERING, FULL-STACK DEVELOPMENT, OR WEB DEVELOPMENT GRADUATES — ESPECIALLY OPT/STEM OPT STUDENTS

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Develop and maintain full-stack web applications for CWPC's Community Wildfire Resilience Scorecard and digital platforms
Build responsive user interfaces using React.js and modern frontend technologies
Design and develop scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Node.js and Express.js
Create and optimize MongoDB databases, schemas, and data models for wildfire resilience applications
Collaborate with UI/UX designers, Solution Architects, Data Scientists, and cross-functional volunteer teams to deliver new features
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code while participating in code reviews and agile development practices
Contribute to CWPC's open-source technology initiatives that support climate resilience and public safety

WHAT YOU BRING

Experience with the MERN Stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) through academic, personal, internship, or professional projects
Strong understanding of JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web development
Experience building REST APIs and integrating third-party APIs
Familiarity with Git/GitHub and collaborative software development workflows
Ability to work independently in an asynchronous, distributed global volunteer environment
Passion for building technology that creates meaningful social and environmental impact

BONUS IF YOU HAVE

Experience with TypeScript, Next.js, Redux, or React Query
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Docker, or CI/CD pipelines
Experience with authentication (JWT, OAuth), testing frameworks, or performance optimization
Prior contributions to open-source, nonprofit, or mission-driven technology projects
