Beloit Health System at Beloit Memorial Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team and provide exceptional care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.Sign-On Bonus: YesShift: 1st/2nd varied or 3rd shiftSchedule: 12-hour shifts, varied start timeHours per week: 36 hours per week Benefits Status: Benefits EligibleDepartment: Emergency DepartmentThe Registered Nurse- Emergency Department provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals experiencing acute illness, injury, trauma, or other medical emergencies. The Registered Nurse- Emergency Department responsibilities include triage, assessment, treatment, monitoring, and coordination of care for patients with varying levels of medical need, including critically ill and trauma patients. Utilizing the nursing process and evidence-based practices, the Registered Nurse- Emergency Department delivers safe and effective care in accordance with Wisconsin nursing licensure requirements, hospital policies, and professional standards. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, compassion, and the ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while collaborating effectively with patients, families, providers, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.The Registered Nurse- Emergency Department:Perform triage assessments and prioritize patient care based on clinical needs.Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions, symptoms, and responses to treatment.Provide emergency nursing care, including basic life support and patient stabilization.Collaborate with physicians, EMS, community agencies, and the interdisciplinary care team.Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge care.Manages multiple cases simultaneously, prioritizing needs continuallyCollects current symptoms, as well as detailed patient history and consults and coordinates with the ED healthcare teamDetects changes in symptoms, health or pain, and knows when action is necessary Manages basic life support needs and stabilizes patients until the physician is available based on policies, protocols, and standards of careMaintains accurate and up-to-date patient charts including vital signs and patient assessmentsInitiates corrective action whenever the information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomologyPrepares and administers medication as prescribed and records the administered medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments following the policy regarding the administration of medications Provides basic bedside nursing careCollaborates professionally with the agencies involved with the Emergency Department, and reports any suspected abuse to appropriate agenciesMaintains proper supplies and adequate medical equipment to care for patientsDisplays professionalism with completing multiple urgent tasks promptlyInitiates patient education as prescribed by the physician or licensed provider to include teaching patients and significant others about illness/injury, by explaining post-treatment homecare needs, diet/nutrition/exercise, self-administering medication, and rehabilitation, as well as providing referral information for follow-up treatmentRecords all care information concisely, accurately, and entirely, in a timely manner in the appropriate format and on appropriate forms or in the electronic health recordComplies with all legal and safety requirements, and all hospital rules, regulations, and policiesAttends medical emergencies in the hospital and on hospital grounds per policyActively participates in quality improvement in the department and attends all required training and continuing education eventsAdheres to corporate values and defined work habits of Beloit Health System Keeps personal medical information about patients confidentialPerforms other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment settingJob RequirementsGraduate of accredited school of nursingADN, Diploma, BSN, or MSN degree acceptableState of Wisconsin nursing licensure or permit requiredState of Illinois nursing licensure or permit required (NorthPointe)Must be CPR certified within three months of hireSuccessful ACLS completion within six months of hireSuccessful PALS completion within one year of hireTNCC or TNS highly recommendedStrong ability to deal with patients and families in various states of illness, pain, trauma, shock, and tragedy.
