Union ICT Service Delivery Technician

Key Responsibilities: Hardware Management: Perform installation, relocation, configuration, and decommissioning of IT hardware, including servers, storage devices, switches, racks, and structured cabling. Ensure all work adheres to stringent data center industry standards. System Monitoring & Inspection: Conduct routine monitoring and inspection of IT systems (servers, network gear, connectivity paths) and critical facility systems (power availability, cooling conditions, environmental metrics) to ensure stable operations. Troubleshooting & Resolution: Diagnose and resolve hardware, network, connectivity, and performance issues through hands‑on troubleshooting, part replacements, visual inspections, and targeted testing across IT, electrical, and mechanical components. Mechanical & Electrical Support: Assist with mechanical and electrical support tasks, including verifying rack power distribution and cooling airflow, monitoring power/cooling conditions, and reporting anomalies in HVAC, electrical panels, or UPS‑backed IT circuits. Incident Response: Respond promptly to break/fix incidents and service tickets, escalating as necessary. Execute standard recovery activities such as server reboots, hardware swaps, patching/dispatching, and basic power/cooling troubleshooting. Physical Infrastructure Support: Manage physical infrastructure tasks, including cable routing, labeling, and termination, ensuring structured cabling and power paths align with best practices for reliability and airflow management. Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate documentation and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), change logs, and asset records, ensuring all IT and facility‑related actions comply with operational and regulatory requirements. Security & Readiness: Assist with backup procedures, disaster recovery equipment readiness, and physical security measures, ensuring the protection of critical systems and controlled access to sensitive areas. Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with both IT and facilities engineering teams to ensure integrated operations across compute, network, power, and cooling systems. Vendor Management: Escort third‑party vendors and engineers, ensuring their adherence to site policies and verifying the quality of their work on both IT and mechanical/electrical infrastructure. Safety & Compliance: Ensure safe working conditions by adhering to established procedures, hazard awareness practices, and environmental, electrical, and equipment‑handling guidelines. Continuous Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies, recommending enhancements to IT and facility workflows, and maintaining a high standard of housekeeping within technical spaces.
