Clinical Research Coordinator II

School of Medicine, Stanford, California, United States The Department of Neurology at Stanford University is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator 2 to conduct clinical research and work independently on progressively more complex projects and assignments. The role involves independently managing significant aspects of large studies or all aspects of one or more small research studies. Duties Oversee subject recruitment and study enrollment goals; determine effective strategies for promoting and recruiting research participants and retaining them in long‑term clinical trials. Oversee data management for research projects; develop and manage systems to organize, collect, report, and monitor data collection, and extract, analyze, and interpret data. Develop project schedules, targets, measurements, and accountabilities; lead team meetings and prepare and approve minutes. Formally supervise, train, and mentor new staff or students; assist with hiring, performance evaluations, and instruction on project work. Audit operations, including laboratory procedures, to ensure compliance with regulations; lead corrective actions and processes; monitor Institutional Review Board submissions and respond to requests. Collaborate with principal investigators and study sponsors; monitor and report serious adverse events and resolve study queries. Provide leadership in determining, recommending, and implementing improvements to policies and procedures; define best practices. Develop study budgets with staff and principal investigators, distinguishing standard of care from study procedures; track milestones and invoice sponsors according to study contracts. Ensure regulatory compliance; inspect study documents for ongoing compliance and submit Investigational New Drug applications to the FDA when applicable. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Desired Qualifications Prior certifications or experience with administering cognitive, neuropsychometric, and functional assessments such as MMSE, MoCA, RBANS, CDR, ADCS‑ADL, ADAS‑Cog, motor and non‑motor evaluations, and other assessments required by the study. Education & Experience (Required) Bachelor's degree in a related field plus two years of experience in clinical research, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Required) Strong interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database applications. Experience with research protocols and regulatory bodies, including HIPAA, FDA regulations, Institutional Review Board requirements, and Good Clinical Practice. Knowledge of medical terminology. Certifications & Licenses Society of Clinical Research Associates or Association of Clinical Research Professionals certification is preferred. Physical Requirements Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, and squat while using fine motor skills. Occasionally sit, reach above shoulders, perform desk‑based computer tasks, use a telephone, write by hand, lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 40 pounds. Rarely kneel, crawl, climb ladders, or grasp forcefully; rarely lift or move objects weighing 40 pounds or more. Working Conditions May be required to work with hazardous materials or exposure to chemicals, blood, body fluids, or tissues; risk of exposure to contagious diseases. May require extended or unusual work hours based on research needs.
