Location: Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas
Compensation: $145,000-$155,000 Base Salary + Bonus Opportunity
Classification: Exempt
Travel: Occasional
About the Opportunity
A rapidly growing specialty services and project-based organization is seeking a Director of Human Resources to build and lead the people function during a significant growth phase. The company currently operates across multiple states and expects substantial expansion over the next several years.
This role offers a unique opportunity to create structure, strengthen compliance, improve employee programs, and help develop the workforce infrastructure necessary to support long-term growth. The Director of Human Resources will work closely with executive leadership while remaining connected to the day-to-day realities of the business.
This is not a role for someone who prefers to operate solely at a strategic level. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable developing HR strategy and personally handling employee relations issues, policy development, onboarding processes, compliance initiatives, and workforce challenges.
What You'll Do
Build the HR Function

• Establish scalable HR processes, policies, procedures, and programs
• Develop the infrastructure needed to support a growing multi-state workforce
• Create consistency across recruiting, onboarding, employee records, performance management, and compliance activities
• Build future HR team structure as organizational needs evolve

Serve as a Trusted Advisor

• Partner with executive and operational leaders on workforce planning and organizational decisions
• Provide practical guidance regarding performance management, corrective action, employee relations, investigations, and workforce issues
• Support business leaders through growth, change, and organizational expansion

Lead Compliance and Risk Management

• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations
• Review and update employee policies, procedures, and handbook materials
• Ensure proper documentation and personnel record management
• Support workforce compliance efforts across multiple states and jurisdictions

Strengthen Talent Acquisition and Onboarding

• Oversee recruiting, onboarding, and retention initiatives
• Improve hiring processes for professional, operational, technical, and field-based positions
• Develop talent pipelines to support future growth
• Enhance employee onboarding and integration programs

Compensation, Benefits & Employee Programs

• Evaluate compensation structures, classifications, and employee programs
• Assist leadership in developing competitive and sustainable compensation practices
• Partner with benefit providers, brokers, and other external vendors
• Recommend improvements that support retention and employee engagement

HR Systems & Workforce Analytics

• Maintain and improve HR technology platforms and employee data management
• Develop reporting related to workforce metrics, turnover, recruiting effectiveness, retention, and employee relations trends
• Help leadership make informed decisions using workforce data

Support Organizational Growth

• Assist with new office and location expansions
• Support integration efforts associated with future acquisitions or growth initiatives
• Develop workforce programs capable of scaling alongside the business

What We're Looking For

• Progressive Human Resources leadership experience with responsibility across employee relations, compliance, recruiting, compensation, benefits, and performance management
• Experience building, modernizing, or significantly improving an HR function
• Strong understanding of employment law and workforce compliance
• Experience supporting multi-state operations or geographically dispersed workforces
• Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills across all organizational levels
• Experience implementing or enhancing HRIS, workforce management, or people systems
• Proven ability to create practical solutions in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
• Experience supporting field-based, skilled trade, industrial, construction, manufacturing, logistics, or operational workforces
• Bilingual English/Spanish capabilities
• Experience supporting organizations experiencing rapid growth or transformation
