The Community

Before you rule out the location, Temple is worth a closer look. It's a growing Central Texas healthcare market where your income generally goes much further than it would in Austin. You can live in Temple, Belton, Salado, or Harker Heights, have a manageable commute, and still be within reach of Austin and Waco. The area offers lakes, outdoor recreation, affordable housing, and a stable military and medical economy. For someone who wants meaningful work without paying big-city prices or sitting in big-city traffic, it can be a very attractive quality-of-life move.

You are about an hour from the sexiest city in Texas. Here is the part people get backwards: if you actually lived in Austin, where would you go to get away? Live out here and Austin is your getaway - an easy hour up the road for the show, the restaurant, the game or the airport, and then you come home to lakes, hill country, quiet streets and a mortgage that makes sense. You get the city when you want it and you never have to live in the traffic.

Getting Here

Austin-Bergstrom International (AUS) - about 1 hour 15 minutes from the facility; Waco Regional (ACT) is about 50 minutes.

The Facility

You will practice at a large, full-service medical center in Central Texas - a teaching hospital campus with inpatient and outpatient services, on-site imaging, laboratory, pharmacy, and a broad multispecialty medical staff. Support is built in: scheduling, nursing, and ancillary teams handle the administrative load so your day stays clinical. The patient population is stable, insured, and largely young to middle-aged families and working adults.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary care to an adult and pediatric outpatient panel
• Manage chronic disease, preventive care, and acute visits in a clinic setting
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies; refer to specialty care as indicated
• Document encounters in the electronic health record
• Collaborate with nursing, behavioral health, and care-management staff

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license in any state - Texas licensure is not required
• Board certified in Family Medicine (ABFM or AOBFP)
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Family Medicine
• One year of family medicine practice within the last three years

Schedule

Shifts are scheduled between 0530 and 2230, normally eight to twelve hours, per a coverage schedule published 90 days in advance. The facility operates 24/7, so the rotation includes an average of one to two weekends per month and federally recognized holidays. On-call assignments are scheduled 30 days in advance and paid at a separate on-call rate, with call-back paid at the full hourly rate.

Relocation

A relocation allowance of up to $10,000 is available if your home of record is more than 120 miles from the facility.
