ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated ICU Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both Neuro ICU and Surgical ICU settings, with proficiency in utilizing the EPIC electronic health record system. This position requires an individual who is passionate about providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for critically ill patients in a 30-bed ICU setting.
• Assist in bedside procedures including intubation/extubation, central line placement, arterial line placement, chest tube insertion, thoracentesis, transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs), and cardioversions.
• Manage patients on ventilators, BiPAP/AVAPS, and various oxygen delivery methods.
• Administer multiple vasoactive medications and monitor patients' responses to treatment.
• Work with patients undergoing general surgical procedures, stroke/neuro procedures (such as craniectomy, hemicraniectomy, spinal surgeries), and interventions in the cath lab and interventional radiology.
• Implement care for patients experiencing sepsis, GI bleeds, COPD, CHF, and DKA.
• Interpret invasive hemodynamic values, including CO, CI, SVV, CVP, and SvO2.
• Participate in a rotating schedule, working every other weekend and every other holiday with flexibility for sick calls.
• Float to different units within the ICU as necessary based on census needs.

Qualifications

• Active nursing license with current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Experience with CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy), CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft), and stroke protocols, including TNK (Tenecteplase).
• Experience managing patients on assist devices such as IABP and Impella devices.
• Familiarity with prone positioning and the initiation and maintenance of paralytics, including TOF and BIS monitoring.
• Open heart surgery experience and comprehensive stroke care experience preferred.

Additional Information

Candidates are required to demonstrate the ability to perform under pressure and deliver outstanding patient care during critical situations. Previous clinical experience in similar settings is essential for success in this role.
