Job Description UC Health is hiring a Full‑time Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Mental Health Services unit at UC Medical Center. PES is the only Psychiatric Emergency Room in Southwest Ohio. We offer crisis intervention and rapid assessment of people’s need for behavioral health care in the least restrictive environment for Hamilton County and the surrounding area. PES has a Psychiatrist on site 24/7, and provides phone consultation, crisis intervention, medication evaluation and treatment, diagnostic assessment, disposition planning, mobile crisis intervention, and education of emergency providers in the community. Unit Details Variety of diagnoses in behavioral health - able to gain experience. Opportunity to gain experience in psychiatric emergency service. Location United States Qualifications Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing, preferred. Current OH RN License. BLS/ACLS/PALS per department requirements based on patient population needs. For employees working in UCMC Psychiatric Services, NCI-APS (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills) Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire. Hours and Shift Full time – 36 hours per week. 12‑hour night shift. Responsibilities Prepare, implement, evaluate, and coordinate interdisciplinary plans of care for each assigned patient in collaboration with the healthcare team and the patient/family within the time frame indicated by unit standards of practice. Communicate the formulated plan of care to all relevant healthcare personnel and demonstrate ability to prioritize care based on patient assessment and needs. Provide clear instructions to patients and families regarding treatment and involve family or guardian in assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient. Identify and respond appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs, or those associated with religious or cultural norms. Demonstrate critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit. Act as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit.
