Machine Maintenance Technician – 2nd Shift

Location: Charleston, SC
Schedule: 2nd Shift | 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Pay: $25–$30/hr (DOE) + $2.40/hr shift differential
Employment Type: Full‐time | Non‐Exempt

 

Position Summary

The Machine Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing the bottle coating machine and associated automation/robotic systems. This role performs daily preventive maintenance, replaces components as needed, and ensures equipment remains fully operational throughout the shift. The Technician will also run day‐to‐day activities on the robot, diagnose mechanical issues, and collaborate with the machine manufacturer when required. Weekend on‐call support may be necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Machine component replacement — Install, replace, and adjust key components of the bottle coating machine.
• Mechanical troubleshooting — Diagnose issues to maintain machine functionality and minimize downtime.
• Preventive maintenance — Perform daily PM checks and basic repairs.
• Process adjustments — Modify machine settings to improve quality and cycle rates.
• Vacuum pump support — Work with machine vacuum pumps; experience preferred.
• Automation & robotics — Run daily robot operations, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine robotic maintenance.
• Waste reduction — Ensure waste and downtime remain at a minimum.
• Safety compliance — Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Additional maintenance duties — Support related automated systems and robotics as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2‐year technical degree or certification preferred.

Experience

• 5+ years of related maintenance experience.
• Prior experience with injection molding machines required.
• Automation and/or robotic machine experience strongly preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written instructions.
• Self‐directed, collaborative, and goal‐focused.
• Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‐paced environment with shifting priorities.
• Strong work ethic and adaptability within a growing organization.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, and pulling of parts and containers.
