The department currently participates in a hybrid work schedule (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday in-office and Thursday, Friday remote).Primary Purpose:As a member of the Natural Gas Financial Planning organization, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordination, consolidation, and analysis of financial forecasts, budgets, and long-range outlooks for various assets in Kinder Morgan’s Natural Gas East Region business unit. This crucial position includes responsibilities for all FP&A activities for several major pipelines, which generate a significant portion of the company’s earnings and represent a meaningful portion of the expansion project backlog.What You Will DoEssential Duties and Responsibilities: Collaborate with teammates to provide timely and meaningful analysis to Senior Management for use in the strategic and tactical decision-making processDevelop reporting packagesPrepare bi-weekly forecastsConstruct and manage financial modelsColloborate with Business Development to understand and include the financial impact of growth projects to company financial projectionsCoordinate activities for routine deliverables, PwC audit requests, and ad hoc requestsPreparation of financial analysis for quarterly business reviewsInvestigate anomalies and prepare monthly actual vs. forecast and budget variance analysisLead, guide, and mentor other team membersLeverage PowerBI to enhance reportingCollaborate with Commercial and other groups to develop the annual budgetRun pricing, operational, and volume sensitivitiesPerform ad hoc financial analysis and review project economics to provide support to the Commercial and Business Development teamsDevelop financial analysis to support business decisions and capital expendituresFrequent communication with various business segments and corporate functions to stay abreast of operational impacts on financial informationImprove financial models and processes while maintaining the integrity of all financial informationPrepare special projects and perform research as requested by managementTravel to Birmingham, Alabama satellite office regularly (10-20% travel)* Job level (Analyst or Senior Analyst) will be determined based on the candidate’s skills and qualifications.What You NeedEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or AccountingMBA and/or CPA PreferredExperience / Specific Knowledge: Must possess strong analysis, forecasting, planning and reporting skillsProficiency with various technologies and the ability to quickly navigate, process, and succinctly report on large quantities of data spread across multiple systemsFinancial modeling and planning experience (midstream or oil and gas preferred)Working knowledge of natural gas transportation and storage preferredCompetencies, Skills and Abilities:Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including proficiency in VLOOKUP, INDEX, MATCH, and SUMIF functions, expertise in creating and manipulating PivotTables, knowledge of Macros and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), proficiency in creating advanced charts and graphs, experience with data validation techniques, and the ability to handle large volumes of data efficientlyAbility to solve complex problems and provide solutions-oriented analysisExhibit a high degree of initiative and perform tasks with minimal supervisionMust be adept at communicating forecast, budget, and actual results to management and accounting both in detail and at a high level, depending on audienceMust be comfortable interfacing with all levels of management, and with those outside of the planning organization, in order to obtain data necessary to complete forecasting responsibilitiesThorough knowledge of accounting policies, procedures, and processesDevelop and maintain good, working relationships with Accounting, Commercial, and Operations teamsProficiency with Microsoft OfficeSome overtime required as typical with FP&A positionsWhy Join Kinder MorganKinder Morgan is a large energy infrastructure company operating in North America.
