Quality Inspector

We are seeking a Quality Inspector for our precision manufacturing client in Carrollton, TX. The primary responsibility of the role is to test and inspect products at various stages of production process for defects, wear, and deviations from specifications using precision measuring instruments and test equipment and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect, test, sort, sample, or weigh products for defects, wear, and deviations from specifications.
• Perform regular quality assessments on all incoming materials from vendors and outgoing products for shipping.
• Test and inspect products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
• Reject all products and materials that fail to meet quality expectations.
• Interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications, and industry standards to determine quality and reliability standards.
• Measure product dimensions, examine functionality, and compare the final product to the specifications.
• Use precision measuring instruments and complex test equipment.
• Record and evaluate test data and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
• Investigate causes of defective material and advises individuals responsible of processing defects.
• Advise QA/QC and Production Department personnel on problems involving quality control and testing techniques and methods and on application of testing and inspection specifications to metal products.
• Collection, analysis, and reporting of quality data. Document inspection outcomes by completing detailed reports and performance records.
• Supervise the production process.
• Resolve quality-related issues in a timely manner.
• Recommend improvements to the production process to ensure quality control.
• Be on the lookout for opportunities for improvement and develop new efficient procedures.
• Teach the production team about quality control concerns to improve product excellence.
• Maintain, monitor standards and train employees in compliance to the Quality Procedures to meet API Q1, AS 9100, and ISO 9001 requirements.
• Perform other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good vision, math skills and sharp eye-hand coordination.
• Attention to detail, the smallest details must be noted and acted upon when necessary.
• Ability to read, analyze, and customer specifications, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Knowledge of measuring tools. (i.e. calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators). Ability to verify calibrated devices are within accuracy per check methods.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Lift up to 50 lbs., installing and removing shear screws, calibration of small tools and keeping the records up to date.
• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• In-depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant legal standards.
• Work expeditiously and accurately under pressure.
• Operate personal computer using standard office operating software and general office equipment.
• Working knowledge of quality systems such as API Q1, AS 9100, ISO 9001, and ISO 9000.
