Assistant Branch Manager - Northern Illinois Branches

Position Summary The Assistant Branch Manager supports one or more branches in achieving strategic organizational goals while fostering an exceptional member and employee experience. This role partners closely with the Branch Manager to ensure superior member service, operational efficiency, and team development. The Assistant Branch Manager serves as a coach and leader, actively identifying team strengths and areas for growth. Through ongoing coaching conversations and development planning, they support onboarding, performance, retention, and engagement efforts. With a strong understanding of member needs and market dynamics, the Assistant Branch Manager assists in implementing targeted sales and service strategies that align with MSUFCU's mission and values. They help maintain the branch's safety, appearance, and brand standards, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment. As a representative of the Credit Union, the Assistant Branch Manager participates in community events and initiatives that support MSUFCU's strategic goals. Work Location The Assistant Branch Manager will support three branches within the Northern Illinois area. Travel requirements will be discussed throughout the interview process. The branch locations include: Randall Road Branch Algonquin Road Branch South Elgin Branch An offer of employment with MSU Federal Credit Union and affiliates is contingent upon the agreed work arrangement (onsite/hybrid/remote) and work location. MSU Federal Credit Union may or may not be able to accommodate temporary or permanent changes to work arrangements or allow employment outside the city and/or state of residency in which the new hire resides at the time of offered employment. Schedule This position requires the ability to work during the branch hours of operation, including rotating Saturdays. Additional time may be required to fulfill responsibilities. This position is also required to represent the Credit Union in the community at events and volunteer functions outside of branch hours. This position requires working a standard 40 hour week during Branch hours of operations Monday - Thursday 8:30am - 5:45pm Friday 8:00am - 6:15pm Rotating Saturdays 8:30am - 1:15pm Employees work Saturdays with one Saturday off every month. They receive a consistent day off during the week to offset their Saturday hours. Scheduled hours could change based on business need and future department growth. This includes but is not limited to developing a comprehensive understanding of the Credit Union's financials to develop aligned branch objectives, and sales strategies. Design and implement promotions that align with the Credit Union's initiatives while delivering meaningful value to the branch. Review sales performance and report to the Branch Manager and team on progress to goals. Observe and assess employee performance regularly through direct interaction and shadowing, identifying strengths and areas for improvement. Provide and document accurate, timely, and constructive feedback, and collaborate with the Branch Manager to coach team members effectively, ensuring prompt delivery of impactful performance reviews. Complete merit and promotion summaries, clearly outlining performance factors that justify salary adjustments and advancement recommendations. Collaborate with the Branch Manager to assist employees through the corrective action process aimed at improving work performance, while maintaining a respectful, solution-focused approach and ensuring confidentiality throughout the process. Leverage engagement tools, such as employee surveys and feedback platforms, to identify opportunities for employee engagement improvement by encouraging open communication and collaboration amongst the team and implementing initiatives that strengthen team morale and that align team culture with organizational values. Collaborate with the Branch Manager to develop strategies that ensure consistent, superior service delivery and operational efficiency. Leverage branch performance data to guide decision-making and establish branch priorities. Assist employees with questions, reviews, and overrides, coaching them to grow their thought process and decision-making skills. Understand and be able to perform duties and responsibilities performed by branch employees. Assist branch employees in evaluating and decisioning member situations. Participate in hiring and onboarding processes to ensure new team members are smoothly integrated. Review branch volume data to recommend appropriate staffing levels. Maintain optimal staffing levels through strategic scheduling aligned with branch demands. Identify and address employee training needs to enhance team performance to foster a productive and efficient work environment. Foster relationships and collaborate with other departments throughout the credit union to provide superior service and consistency for the membership and employees. Actively represent the credit union and its branches at community events, fostering positive relationships and promoting the organization's values, services, and initiatives. Own the overall accuracy and completion of all internal and external audits and exception resolution in compliance with Credit Union policies and regulatory standards. Exercise sound judgment to safeguard members and the organization, while mentoring staff to uphold compliance and risk management best practices. Collaborate with Branch Manager to review audit findings to ensure appropriate follow-up and resolutions are made. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional branch environment by upholding presentation standards and promptly reporting facility or equipment issues. Lead and participate as a branch representative in effective informational meetings, trainings, projects, and committees. Job Requirements High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. Prior experience leading others formally or informally is required; or completion of one of the Credit Union's leadership programs in lieu of experience. Availability to work during branch hours, including Saturdays, with flexibility to support other locations and work outside branch hours to complete managerial responsibilities. Physical Demands and Work Environment May be required to remain stationary for extended periods while also engaging in frequent movement within an office environment.
