GIS Junior Access Surveyor

Job Title: Junior Access Surveyor/GIS Technician Type: Permanent, full-time position Salary: to be determined Days and Hours: 40 hours/week Company: Sally Swanson Architects, Inc. Nature of Business: Architecture - Planning - Universal Design & Accessibility Consulting Services Purpose: Sally Swanson Architects, Inc. is currently seeking a Junior Access Surveyor/GIS Technician with surveying and/or GIS experience, and interest in a paid, full-time position. Job Description, Responsibilities and Functions: The Junior Access Surveyor/GIS Technician evaluates compliance with accessibility standards within the public rights-of-way of various cities and/or counties throughout the United States. Evaluations will be conducted by the Junior Access Surveyor/GIS Technician via on-site field surveys and utilizing both traditional and state-of-the-art survey equipment. The ideal applicant will have prior surveying experience and additional experience following standard data collection procedures and practices, but training in the specialization of access compliance requirements and codes will also be provided. This position is primarily outdoors and requires one to be in good physical condition, have a willingness to work in various weather conditions, and ability to travel/work in different areas of the U.S. for long periods of time. We desire individuals who can work with minimal supervision and have a strong work ethic, paying close attention to the detail and accuracy of data collection, and following proper procedure. Travel/work outside the office is anticipated to be 50 – 80 percent. Required Qualifications: Knowledge/skills in the following program: ESRI ArcMap Must be able to travel/work in different areas of the U.S. Must have a valid driver's license Able to communicate well with executives, employees, clients, and vendors Must be punctual, reliable, and have extreme attention to detail Knowledge of digitizing and data editing procedures, and experience using the computer operating system Familiar/Interested in ADA and California and Federal standards for access compliance requirements and codes Legally authorized to work in the United States; we comply with E-Verify Desired Qualifications: Experience in designing/developing report templates and layouts Knowledge/skills in the following programs: InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, FilemakerPro, Microsoft Word/Excel To Apply: Please send an email (stating Junior Access Surveyor/GIS Technician in the subject line) with a cover letter, resume and three references (please include an email address for each reference) to: View email address on click.appcast.io No phone calls please.
