Dietary Services is seeking a productive team member to prepare appetizing, nutritious, quality food for the patients of SVMHI. Follow posted menus, standardized production recipes and food production worksheets. Follow the strict guidelines and standards for wholesome and quality food production, serving and storage established by state regulations of the Virginia Department of Health, maintaining a high level of personal hygiene. Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends, and holidays. Operating hours are 5:30 a.m. 7:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

The ability to follow recipes; the ability to perform manual labor and tasks such as bending, stooping, and lifting; the ability to work in various environmental conditions such as freezers/refrigerators; the ability to follow written and verbal instruction and patient tray meal schedules; the ability to perform sanitation tasks such as cleaning floors, food service equipment, and other work areas; the ability to lift moderate to heavy objects (20-50+ lbs.); the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time and to walk on various surfaces. Experience with safe food preparation techniques, handling practices, and proper sanitation requirements in a large food production environment. ServSafe certification or ability to obtain certification within six months of hire is required.

Previous behavioral health experience/hospital experience.
