Full Scope Auditor

Job Summary The Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) is hiring a Full Scope Auditor to review, analyze, and conduct full scope audits for businesses and individuals to determine compliance with Oklahoma and federal tax laws. Duties and Responsibilities Compile and submit audit review packets. Review Internal Revenue and Oklahoma tax statutes. Provide written and verbal communication to taxpayers. Create, print, review and distribute audit correspondence. Attend mandatory training. Conduct corporate income audits: review and audit corporate, small business, partnership, tax‑exempt entity, and fiduciary returns. Identify non‑compliance and filing irregularities. Analyze and audit business financial records, including federal and state returns. Conduct full scope business audits: review sales, withholding, vendor use, consumer use, franchise, mixed beverage, waste tire, and lodging taxes. Ensure compliance by reviewing business tax returns, invoices, sales records, and other financial documents. Analyze bookkeeping records, general ledger, financial records and exemption files. Prepare audit reviews, reports, and recommendations. Maintain confidentiality of all tax information. Work independently under expected supervision. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of auditing methodology and GAAP. Understanding of bookkeeping practices and financial statements. Familiarity with federal and state income tax forms and applicable technology. Skilled in written and verbal communication. Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritize, solve problems, and think critically. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and accounting systems. Strong analytical and review skills for accounting records. Ability to prepare audit reviews, reports, and recommendations. Capacity to maintain effective working relationships. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, public administration, or related field. Four (4) years of professional experience in auditing, accounting, finance, or a similar field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications Completed CPA or CIA certification. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite applications. Five (5) or more years of professional auditing, accounting, or finance experience. Physical Demands Ability to sit and stand for extended periods. Manual dexterity to operate computer, keyboard, copier, telephone, calculator. Vision to read computer screen and printed material (with or without aids). Hearing to understand speech at normal levels. Communication clarity in spoken and written form. Lift up to 15 pounds, bend, stoop, climb stairs, walk and reach. Work environment: office, moderate noise level. Special Requirements Full Scope Business Auditors may need to travel; reliable transportation required. Valid Oklahoma State Driver’s License required. Telework may be required based on agency needs. Secure internet connection and dedicated telephone or smartphone device required during scheduled hours. Access to Federal Tax Information; confidentiality required.
