Assistant Professor (CHS)

The Division of Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a collaborative and academically engaged faculty member who is passionate about complex benign gynecology, minimally invasive surgery, multidisciplinary care, and surgical education.

The faculty member will provide clinical care at UW Hospital and Clinics and Meriter UnityPoint Hospital, treating a wide range of complex gynecologic conditions through office-based and surgical approaches. The ideal candidate will be proficient in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and will have opportunities to participate in a multidisciplinary pelvic pain clinic, develop and maintain an office-based procedures program, and assist with and teach advanced benign gynecologic surgery. The position also includes full participation in call for the benign gynecology service.

Beyond clinical care, this role offers meaningful opportunities to shape the future of gynecologic care and education. The successful candidate will engage in clinical and/or educational research, quality and outcomes initiatives, and the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. Academic responsibilities include participation in surgical training programs, advanced surgical training for faculty, and simulation-based education focused on developing advanced skills and resident assessment metrics.

The faculty member will also contribute to administrative and committee activities supporting UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.

School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has set the standard for reproductive health education, research, clinical care, and advocacy. MD/DO required. Completed four-year approved/accredited residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Completion of a two-year fellowship in Minimally-Invasive Gynecology Surgery with demonstrated and extensive experience in advanced gynecologic surgeries or completion of the ABOG focused practice designation in MIGS.

3-5 years of post-fellowship experience. Experience in straight-stick laparoscopic surgery. For appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track. For appointment at Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track.
