Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 8-4 or as defined by the school. Salary range is $120,000- $130,000 annual base salary. Summary The Director of Curriculum and Instruction provides strategic leadership and oversight for curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional learning, and school improvement initiatives across the organization. This role is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of instructional systems, academic programming, curriculum resources, assessment practices, and educator support structures that strengthen student achievement and organizational effectiveness within a virtual learning environment. The Director collaborates closely with the Chief Academic Officer, Academic Leadership Team, school leaders, and instructional staff to ensure alignment of academic priorities, instructional practices, professional development, student engagement initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts. The role also leads organizational data analysis, goal setting, and Comprehensive School Improvement (CSI) planning to support measurable academic growth and long term strategic outcomes. - Provide strategic leadership for curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional learning, and school improvement initiatives to improve student achievement, academic growth, graduation outcomes, and subgroup performance across the organization.
- Lead the development, implementation, monitoring, and continuous refinement of a cohesive K 12 instructional framework that establishes clear expectations for teaching, learning, student engagement, and instructional delivery within a virtual learning environment.
- Drive measurable improvements in instructional practice and educator effectiveness through the implementation of professional learning systems, coaching structures, instructional feedback cycles, and data informed continuous improvement processes.
- Establish and maintain vertically and horizontally aligned curriculum, instruction, and assessment systems that ensure consistency, rigor, and coherence across all grade levels, content areas, and instructional programs.
- Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of a comprehensive organizational assessment calendar, including formative, benchmark, interim, diagnostic, and summative assessments, to ensure timely measurement of student progress and instructional effectiveness.
- Ensure assessment results are consistently analyzed and utilized through cyclical data review processes to drive instructional decision making, intervention planning, curricular revisions, subgroup support strategies, and continuous academic improvement.
- Lead organizational data analysis processes related to student proficiency, growth, engagement, attendance, graduation outcomes, subgroup performance, and instructional effectiveness to identify trends, instructional gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Establish systematic evaluation and monitoring cycles for curriculum, instructional programs, academic initiatives, intervention systems, and vendor provided resources to assess implementation fidelity, effectiveness, return on investment, and impact on student outcomes.
- Lead formal curriculum and instructional resource adoption processes, including the evaluation, selection, implementation, monitoring, and ongoing refinement of instructional materials, assessment platforms, and digital learning systems.
- Design and implement professional learning systems that strengthen instructional capacity, increase implementation fidelity, promote organizational consistency, and result in measurable improvements in educator performance and student achievement.
- Collaborate with school leaders and instructional teams to establish clear academic goals, progress monitoring structures, accountability systems, and action plans aligned to organizational priorities and school improvement efforts.
- Lead the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Comprehensive School Improvement (CSI) plans and organizational academic goals, ensuring alignment between strategic priorities, instructional systems, and measurable outcomes.
- Ensure all curriculum, instruction, assessment, and instructional support systems comply with Pennsylvania Department of Education regulations, Chapter 4 requirements, federal accountability expectations, and charter authorizer requirements.
- Oversee the coordination and implementation of state testing programs, assessment security procedures, accommodations processes, testing logistics, and related compliance requirements.
- Supervise and support coordinators, specialists, and support staff within curriculum and instruction related departments while promoting accountability, collaboration, innovation, leadership development, and high quality service delivery.
- Lead initiatives related to student orientation, student engagement, and community connectedness to improve onboarding experiences, participation, retention, and overall student experience within a virtual learning environment.
- Present academic performance data, instructional priorities, curriculum initiatives, school improvement strategies, and organizational progress updates to executive leadership, the Board, educators, families, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Chief Academic Officer and Academic Leadership Team to align instructional systems, operational priorities, staffing decisions, resource allocation, and organizational initiatives with long term strategic goals.
- Support the implementation and effective utilization of instructional technology platforms, assessment systems, and data tools to strengthen instructional decision making, operational efficiency, and student outcomes.
- Maintain current knowledge of instructional best practices, curriculum development, assessment systems, virtual learning models, school improvement research, and emerging educational trends to support innovation and organizational growth.

- Master's Degree in Education Administration or a related field AND
- Five (5) Years of relevant work experience OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- All PDE required clearances for school-based personnel

- This is a home-based position. When office days are required, the noise level in the office is usually moderate (computers, printers, light foot traffic).
- This position will include limited travel and will include limited overnight travel. This is estimated to be less than 20% of the time. Travel will be required for community events, professional development, conferences, and state testing.
