We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director to oversee our Low Barrier Center and help lead innovative, community-based services for individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use, and mental health challenges. This position provides strategic and operational leadership while fostering a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and person-centered culture. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who is passionate about expanding access to care, strengthening community partnerships, supporting staff development, and driving meaningful impact for vulnerable populations.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a FLSA exempt position. The incumbent serves as the Director of Region Ten's Blue Ridge Center. In this capacity, he/she has responsibility for the daily operations of Blue Ridge center. Utilizing a team approach, the Director will plan programming and services, coordinate service delivery and collaborate with agency and community partners. The incumbent will be responsible for the development and implementation of quality programming, program budget as well as expected to stay abreast of current best practice and evidence-informed practices in the field. The incumbent reports to the Senior Director and receives general supervision rarely referring specific situations to the supervisor unless clarification or interpretation of policy is needed. The incumbent is expected to function with initiative as well as utilize independent judgment. The incumbent reports to the Senior Director, Center for Adult Rehabilitative Services and will receive regular supervision and will seek consultation from supervisor and/or other agency specialists as needed. The incumbent exercises sound judgment, is cooperative, is able to work well with and inspire others, and demonstrates leadership. In carrying out position duties, he/she performs in accordance with applicable professional ethics and established Region Ten policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

A Master’s degree is required Academic training in fields of Psychiatric Rehabilitation, or other related mental health field is required

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of four years of work in the field with supervisory experience is required.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE

Licensure as a LCSW, LPC, or LMFT is strongly preferred In order to ensure the safe and efficient fulfillment of any travel on behalf of the board, a valid Virginia driver's license plus an acceptable driving record as issued by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles are required. For use of a personal vehicle to conduct Region Ten business, a certificate of valid personal automobile insurance must be provided. KSAS Knowledge of: characteristics and service needs of persons with severe and persisting psychiatric illnesses, behavioral disorders, and/or multiple-impairments (mentally ill, chemically addicted); clinical and rehabilitation assessments and treatment strategies with persons with LTMI; psychosocial program models; community support system principles; diagnostic and treatment issues associated with DSM-III-R evaluations, medications, mediation side-effects, medical conditions, psychiatric disturbances and the chemically addicted individual; crisis recognition and prevention techniques; crisis management including non-aversive behavioral management strategies; voluntary/involuntary commitment procedures; financial management and accounting principles and procedures; principles and practices of team development and management by objectives; principles and practices of staff recruitment, supervision, training and evaluation; specific state, local and federal regulations. Skills in psychiatric needs assessments, case management evaluations, rehabilitation planning, evaluation of client progress; medical and health monitoring for medication effects or general medical conditions, managing medical emergencies; mental health treatment including counseling and individual and group psychotherapy; crisis management; organizing records, services delivery, staffing patterns; integrating services with clinical day supports, vocational and other agency services; communicating job responsibilities and expectations to staff and measuring performance outcomes; staff development; creating and managing financial records system; assisting families to become a part of treatment team. Abilities to carry out established policies and procedures; organize a complex and comprehensive array of integrated services for each member and program in general; organize and maintain a complex record keeping system to document and monitor services; work effectively with and through a large staff to meet program goals (i.e., to translate policies and procedures and standards into daily practices, model professional attitudes, develop staff so that they can perform their functions.); work effectively with contractual services to coordinate plans and assist in delivery quality programs; allocate resources to appropriate needs and operate within a budget; drive defensively.

GRADE 13: $64,010.04 - $96,015.05
