Optometrist Position

Seeking an Optometrist with demonstrated clinical proficiency in comprehensive eye exams, refraction, and contact lens fitting.

This is a full-time, on-site Optometrist role based in Buffalo, NY. The Optometrist will perform comprehensive eye examinations, interpret diagnostic tests, and manage a variety of ocular conditions in collaboration with ophthalmologists and clinical staff. Daily responsibilities include evaluating visual function, prescribing glasses and contact lenses, co-managing pre- and post-operative care for refractive and cataract procedures, and providing patient education on treatment plans and preventive care. The role involves documenting findings in the medical record, coordinating with technicians and support teams to ensure efficient patient flow, and maintaining compliance with clinical protocols and regulatory requirements. The Optometrist will also participate in ongoing training and stay current with advances in optometric and ophthalmic care.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution and active New York State optometry license (or eligibility to obtain prior to start date).
• Demonstrated clinical proficiency in comprehensive eye exams, refraction, and contact lens fitting.
• Experience evaluating and managing common ocular diseases (e.g., glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, dry eye, diabetic eye disease) and co-managing surgical patients.
• Strong interpersonal, patient communication, and counseling skills, with a commitment to patient-centered care and education.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary eye care team, managing time and patient flow in a high-volume clinical setting.
• Comfort using electronic health records and diagnostic technologies common in optometry and ophthalmology practices.
• Willingness to engage in continuing education, adopt new technologies, and follow evidence-based clinical protocols.
• Prior experience in a medical or surgical ophthalmology setting is preferred but not required; residency training in ocular disease is a plus.
