Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ECMO Specialist RN for a night shift CVICU position requiring hands-on ECMO circuit management experience and SC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) with potential floating to CICU/CVICU as needed based on census
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
• 13-week initial assignment length
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Care for post cardiac surgery, ECMO, LVAD/RVAD, IABP, and Impella patients
• Utilizes Epic EMR system
• Supports nurse-driven ECMO protocols and cardiovascular procedures including CABG, TAVR, and valve repair/replacement
• Floating to other qualified units and campuses required per facility census needs

Requirements

• Active RN license (SC or Compact) currently in hand
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: CES-A or E-AEC, and LVAD
• Minimum 2 years of ECMO Specialist (circuit management) experience required
• 3+ years of CVICU/ICU experience preferred
• 1+ years of recent unit experience required for consideration
• Minimum 1 year of experience with Epic EMR required
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• RN ECMO Specialists only; Respiratory Therapy or Perfusion ECMO Specialists not being considered at this time
• Strong skills in ACT, PT/PTT, arterial line management, ventilator management, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips

Additional Information

• Provide specialized nursing care to complex cardiovascular and ECMO patients, including monitoring and management of ECMO circuits
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring, including CVP, Swan-Ganz, and FloTrac/Vigileo
• Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and cardiac dysrhythmias
• Administer and monitor continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and emergency medications
• Weekly orientation held every Monday along with annual compliance training
• Pre-assignment testing and required modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• First-time travelers are not required for this assignment
• Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any Prisma Health facility to be eligible, with limited exceptions for reduced-distance eligibility in specific specialties
• Local candidates may be considered under specific mileage exception rules for select specialties
