Clinical Informatics Specialist – Kirkland, WA
A leading healthcare organization is seeking a Clinical Informatics Specialist to support and enhance ambulatory and outpatient clinic operations through EpicCare Ambulatory optimization. This role is focused on improving clinical workflows, documentation accuracy, and overall user experience across medical and specialty clinics.
This position partners closely with providers, nursing staff, medical assistants, front-desk teams, and technical stakeholders to ensure Epic functionality aligns with real-world clinical needs. It is an opportunity to play a direct role in improving patient care delivery by optimizing how technology supports day-to-day operations.

About the Role
The Clinical Informatics Specialist will support the ongoing maintenance, validation, and enhancement of EpicCare Ambulatory workflows. The role blends systems analysis, workflow optimization, and hands-on Epic configuration support, ensuring that tools are efficient, accurate, and aligned with best practices.
This individual will also act as a key liaison between clinical teams and technical resources, helping translate operational needs into system improvements while supporting education and adoption of new functionality.
Key Responsibilities
- Optimize EpicCare Ambulatory workflows across ambulatory and outpatient clinics
- Configure and maintain Epic SmartTools, including SmartPhrases, SmartTexts, and SmartSets
- Support order panels, preference lists, navigators, and documentation workflows
- Assist with scheduling and in-basket workflow optimization
- Partner with clinical and operational teams to gather requirements and improve efficiency
- Provide end-user support and troubleshooting for Epic-related issues
- Deliver training and education related to new features, upgrades, and best practices
- Ensure workflows align with regulatory requirements and documentation standards
Required Qualifications
- Epic Ambulatory Certification
- Hands-on experience with Epic workflows and SmartTools (SmartPhrase, SmartText, SmartSet)
- At least 4 years of experience in Clinical Informatics, systems analysis, or workflow optimization
- Strong understanding of clinical operations within ambulatory or outpatient settings
- Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into system improvements
