Lead Psychiatrist - Colorado Department of Corrections

University of Colorado Anschutz Department: Department of Psychiatry, Division of Community & Population Mental Health Job Title: Lead Psychiatrist – Colorado Department of Corrections Position #00849771 – Requisition #40267 Job Summary Provide professional psychiatric services to inmates in compliance with CDOC clinical services and mental health guidelines, including assessment, prescription and management of psychiatric medication, clinical management of offenders with mental illness, consultation with staff, training of ancillary staff, and crisis/emergency care. This full‑time (1.0 FTE) position is not located on the Anschutz Medical Campus and covers 17 CDOC locations across Colorado. Key Responsibilities Complete intake and follow‑up assessments of RTP clients. Participate in mental health team meetings at each RTP, review program referrals and discharges, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Ensure regulatory compliance and oversee other providers in the RTP setting. Advance quality of care by analyzing diagnostic trends, developing treatment protocols, and optimizing resource use. Support program evaluation, training, and research projects. Serve as an advisor to the Chief of Psychiatry, Chief Medical Officer, and senior clinical leadership. Work Location Hybrid – onsite at CDOC locations statewide combined with remote tele‑psychology consultations. Qualifications

MD/DO.

Board Certified in Psychiatry. CO Physician license or eligibility to obtain one. Preferred qualifications: Experience working with forensic populations. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students. Knowledge, experience, and ability to manage complex information and computer systems.
