KPMG is currently seeking a Managing Director in Forensic for our Consulting practice.

We are looking for a trusted C-suite advisor who can convertdeep data analytics expertise into transformative client solutions andsubstantial practice growth.
KPMG Forensic helps leading organizations navigatehigh-stakes regulatory landscapes, detect and deter financial crime, andprotect their brand and reputation. Our team combines deep investigative rigor,industry insight, and advanced analytics to address Anti-Money Laundering(AML), sanctions, fraud, and complex compliance challenges. Your Role
As a Managing Director in our Financial Crimes practice, youwill serve as a core market maker, trusted C-suite advisor, and engagementproject leader. You will be responsible for driving practice growth throughstrategic business development, originating high-value advisory opportunities,and expanding our footprint across global financial institutions, fintechs, andnon-bank financial institutions.
In this role, you will champion next-generationcapabilities-such as AI, machine learning, entity resolution, and modern cloudarchitectures-to modernize financial crimes operating models and defend complexmodels before regulators. You will also serve as a dedicated mentor tocultivate the firm's future leaders.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Market Origination
- Drive Revenue Growth & Origination: Lead market-facing business development initiatives, taking direct accountability for originating new client relationships and meeting or exceeding ambitious practice sales and pipeline targets.
- Lead Competitive Pursuits: Direct end-to-end proposal processes, RFP responses, executive oral presentations, and commercial pricing strategies for high-stakes engagements.
- Account Strategy & Expansion: Build and maintain sustained, trust-based relationships with C-level executives (CROs, CCOs, General Counsels, CIOs, Chief Data Officers), identifying white-space opportunities to cross-sell multidisciplinary financial crimes, risk, and technology services.
Delivery Excellence, Model Governance & RegulatoryDefense
- Model Risk Management & Regulatory Defensibility: Lead the design, calibration, threshold tuning, and validation of AML/sanctions monitoring and screening models, adhering to regulatory standards (e.g., SR 11-7, OCC guidance, NYDFS Part 504) and defending methodologies before regulatory examiners and internal audit.
- Regulatory Remediation & Monitorships: Direct complex historical transaction lookbacks, data remediations, and response programs resulting from consent orders, regulatory inquiries, or independent monitorships.
- Strategic Delivery & Quality Oversight: Provide executive delivery oversight across high-profile engagements, empowering engagement managers and technical teams to maintain exceptional quality, rigorous documentation standards, and maximum client satisfaction.
- Practice Economics Management: Manage engagement economics, including top-line revenue, gross margins, realization rates, and resource scheduling.
Technology Modernization & Market Innovation
- Champion Next-Gen Tech Solutions: Translate rapidly evolving advancements in Generative AI, machine learning, entity resolution, and graph analytics into scalable, value-driven client solutions.
- Modern Data Architectures: Guide clients in modernizing their compliance technology stacks across cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, AWS, Azure) and core vendor monitoring engines (e.g., Actimize, SAS, Verafin, Quantexa, Fircosoft).
- Drive Industry Thought Leadership: Author industry white papers, lead regulatory roundtables, and represent KPMG as a featured speaker at premier conferences to reinforce the firm's position at the forefront of financial crimes data analytics.
Team Leadership, Mentorship & Talent Development
- Active Mentorship & Coaching: Serve as an executive coach and sponsor to Directors, Managers, and technical staff, creating pathways for career progression and developing the practice's next generation of leaders.
- Build High-Performing Teams: Direct recruitment, retention, and skill-building initiatives to attract top data science, engineering, and compliance advisory talent, fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture.
A Successful Candidate Would Possess:
- Commercial Drive: A proven track record of originating, pursuing, and closing advisory sales opportunities, with direct accountability for practice revenue and pipeline targets.
- Senior Industry Relationships: Established relationships with C-suite stakeholders, legal counsels, and regulatory bodies across the financial services sector to drive account expansion.
- Complex Engagement Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead multi-workstream forensic investigations, massive data analytics projects, and regulatory response initiatives under tight deadlines.
- Technical & Analytical Mastery: Fluency across statistical modeling, advanced data querying, and machine learning techniques applied to complex transaction datasets.
- People & Team Leadership: A strong dedication to team building, inclusive leadership, and providing constructive guidance to foster professional growth.
- Innovation & Agility: A forward-thinking mindset with hands-on experience adopting emerging technologies and modernizing legacy compliance operations.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in Financial Crimes Compliance, Data Analytics, and/or Regulatory Technology consulting, or in senior leadership within a global financial institution or regulatory body.
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Quantitative Finance, Economics, or a related field. A Master's degree (MS, MIS, MBA) or Ph.D. is strongly preferred.
- Regulatory & Model Governance Mastery: Deep functional understanding of BSA/AML, OFAC/Sanctions, and Fraud regulatory frameworks, as well as formal Model Risk Management standards (e.g., SR 11-7 / OCC 2011-12, NYDFS Part 504).
- Technical Stack Fluency: Experience overseeing or deploying data analytics using tools such as Python, SQL, R, and modern cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks), alongside industry-standard financial crime engines.
- Commercial & Practice Acumen: Proven track record of managing a commercial pipeline, scoping complex proposals, and overseeing engagement economics (P&L, realization, staffing leverage).
- Executive Presence: Exceptional oral, written, and presentation skills, with demonstrated success gaining the confidence of C-level executives, Boards of Directors, and regulatory authorities.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Financial Crimes / Regulatory: Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Advanced CAMS (CAMS-Audit / CAMS-RMC), Certified Global Sanctions Specialist (CGSS), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM).
- Quantitative / Tech: Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Certified Analytics Professional (CAP), or relevant Cloud / Data Engineering credentials (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, Databricks, Snowflake).
