The Director of Plant Operations plays a critical leadership role in ensuring our facilities, infrastructure, and physical environment support the high-quality care our community expects. This is not a maintenance management position. We are seeking a strategic, hands-on leader who can lead complex healthcare facilities operations, drive continuous improvement, oversee capital and construction projects, ensure regulatory readiness, and build a high-performing team focused on service excellence. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, this leader will serve as the organization's subject matter expert for facilities operations, accreditation readiness, Environment of Care, safety compliance, infrastructure planning, and facility stewardship. Candidate Profile A proven healthcare facilities leader with deep technical expertise, strong operational discipline, and the ability to build a culture of accountability, responsiveness, safety, and continuous improvement. What You Will Do Lead Facilities and Plant Operations Direct all aspects of plant operations, facilities maintenance, grounds, utilities, safety, and physical environment programs. Ensure a safe, reliable, and efficient environment that supports patient care, employee engagement, and operational excellence. Build a proactive maintenance culture centered on prevention, reliability, responsiveness, and accountability. Establish performance standards, metrics, and service expectations for the department. Lead operational improvement initiatives that enhance service, efficiency, and organizational performance. Drive Regulatory and Accreditation Readiness Serve as the organizational leader for Environment of Care, Life Safety, Utility Systems, Emergency Preparedness, and related accreditation standards. Maintain ongoing survey readiness and ensure compliance with applicable ACHC, CMS, OSHA, and other state and Federal regulatory requirements. Lead regulatory inspections, corrective action planning, and continuous improvement efforts. Partner with organizational leaders to promote a culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence. Lead Capital, Construction, and Infrastructure Planning Oversee facility renovations, expansions, construction projects, and infrastructure improvements. Partner with architects, engineers, contractors, and organizational leaders to successfully execute projects from concept through completion. Develop long-range facility plans that align with Wilson Health's strategic vision and growth objectives. Evaluate infrastructure risks and recommend investments that strengthen organizational resiliency and organizational growth. Develop and Lead High-Performing Teams Recruit, develop, coach, and inspire facilities professionals committed to excellence. Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, service, and continuous learning. Build strong partnerships with leaders throughout the organization. Establish clear expectations and provide ongoing feedback and development. Create an engaged, high-performing team focused on responsiveness, ownership, and exceptional customer service. Manage Resources Responsibly Develop and manage departmental operating and capital budgets. Identify opportunities for cost savings, energy efficiency, operational effectiveness, and process improvement. Ensure vendor performance, contract management, and purchased services align with organizational expectations. Utilize data and analytics to support operational decision-making and resource stewardship. Who We Are Looking For The successful candidate will be: A recognized subject matter expert in healthcare facilities operations. Equally comfortable in a mechanical room, a construction planning meeting, a leadership discussion, or an accreditation survey. Highly visible, approachable, and service-oriented. An influential leader capable of building strong partnerships across all levels of the organization. Strategic enough to anticipate future facility and infrastructure needs while remaining hands-on in solving today's challenges. Passionate about creating an environment where patients receive exceptional care and employees can do their best work. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Seven or more years of progressive facilities leadership experience required; healthcare facilities leadership experience strongly preferred, including responsibility for plant operations, Environment of Care, Life Safety, regulatory compliance, and capital planning. Acute care hospital facilities leadership experience highly preferred; experience serving in a leadership role during regulatory surveys and accreditation activities strongly desired. Demonstrated expertise in Environment of Care, Life Safety, Utility Systems Management, Emergency Preparedness, accreditation readiness, and healthcare regulatory compliance. Proven success leading facility infrastructure, capital projects, construction initiatives, and operational improvement efforts within a complex healthcare environment. Candidates with demonstrated success leading facilities operations within a hospital or health system environment will be given strong consideration. CHFM, CHSP, CFM, PE, or other relevant professional certifications preferred. Experience leading teams through organizational growth, change, and continuous improvement initiatives preferred. Valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and insurability under Wilson Health's auto policy required.
