Position Overview The Safety Specialist is responsible for overseeing safety programs and compliance across trenchless rehabilitation, underground utility, heavy civil, SAPL, and pipe grouting construction projects throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. This is a field-based, hands-on safety role supporting active infrastructure construction environments including excavation, underground utility installation, trenchless rehabilitation, and heavy equipment operations. Location: Weekly travel throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia What You'll Do Enforce company safety policies and OSHA compliance standards across multiple job sites Support crews performing trenchless rehabilitation, pipe grouting, underground utility, and heavy civil construction activities Identify and mitigate hazards associated with excavation, confined spaces, underground infrastructure, traffic control, and heavy equipment operations Conduct field safety audits, inspections, and toolbox talks with crews Support and assist with safety training for field teams and project staff Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and help implement corrective actions Partner with project managers, superintendents, and field leadership to reinforce a strong safety culture Maintain accurate safety documentation, reports, and site records Travel frequently throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia (3-4 days per week) Perform other safety-related duties as assigned Required Qualifications 3-5 years of construction safety experience supporting heavy civil, underground utility, trenchless, pipeline, infrastructure, or related construction projects Bilingual English/Spanish preferred Experience with trenchless rehabilitation methods including CIPP, pipe grouting, underground utility construction, pipeline work, or related infrastructure projects strongly preferred Understanding of hazards associated with excavation, confined spaces, traffic control, utility construction, and heavy equipment operations Valid driver's license with clean MVR and ability to pass background check OSHA 30-hour certification required Ability to travel frequently throughout the Carolinas and Georgia Work Environment Active construction job sites with exposure to weather conditions and heavy equipment Frequent walking, standing, and field inspections required Exposure to typical construction hazards (PPE required at all times) Frequent weekly travel across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia with regular overnight stays Perks of the JobWeekly Pay 401(k) + Company Match Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Company-paid life insurance Paid Time Off (PTO) Opportunities for career advancement and professional growth Shenandoah is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce.
